In recent months, The Sims 4 has had a rough ride. The last game pack, Journey To Batuu, was met with widespread criticism, and this year’s Eco Lifestyle expansion was also slated when it was first announced. As an early stuff pack, The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff, like most DLC released at this time, is very niche in theme. These objects can all be used in a regular home but many are very grand in design and are better suited to a larger traditional mansion-style build....

An in-development website called The Token Vault will give you the power to create custom avatars for online Dungeons & Dragons games. Or any TTRPG system, for that matter. The developers are collecting art of varying genres and styles from several creators so that users have a catalogue of characters to turn into tokens. The project is already funded through Kickstarter, and is set for a December 2020 release. Fans of tabletop games have found their hobby impacted in a way that video gamers haven’t....

Believe it or not, Geralt of Rivia was nearly cut out of The Witcher video games. The news comes directly from CD Projekt Red quest designers Phillipp Weber and Blazej Augustynek during WitcherCon – who said the first game was set to feature a customizable witcher instead of the protagonist from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. It’s hard to imagine The Witcher without Geralt. Not only is he the star of three highly-rated games, but he’s also managed to jump to the small screen with Netflix’s Witcher series – and even has an upcoming anime....

Following on from the massive success of Braid, The Witness is an engrossing and hugely satisfying experience that should solidify Jonathan Blow as one of the very best active game designers. After some eight years in development, and the enormous success of its precursor Braid, there has been plenty of anticipation for Jonathan Blow’s long-awaited The Witness. Thankfully, the finished product is just as arresting and enthralling as anyone could have expected....

It’s been one month since the release of the critically and commercially-praised Animal Crossing: New Horizons - and it’s getting review-bombed. Again. The game’s Metacritic user score currently sits at a 5.2 (at the time of writing), with the number of negative reviews currently outranking the positive. The game was review-bombed back last month after its official release, mostly from frustrated players lamenting the fact that each Switch console can only host one island, with one player serving as the primary player while the others are relegated to secondary tasks....

Nightbreed is one such movie. Horror master Clive Barker had grand dreams for Nightbreed but fell victim to studio obfuscation. Love it or hate it, there’s no doubting the popularity of The Last of Us, and one thing that most fans can agree on is that the first game was a master class in storytelling. THQ Nordic has been on a bit of a spending spree lately, acquiring a ton of small studios to bolster its line up of games. Now, the publisher has acquired Warhorse Studios, the developer behind the ultra-realistic Kingdom Come: Deliverance that released nearly a year ago, making it the latest purchase in the recent spending spree. THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingfores stated that he was excited to “continue working with the founders who will continue managing the studio under strong creative freedom for many years to come....

While EA’s Skate series have attempted to create realistic skateboarding simulators, the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games have never been all that serious. They feature arcadey gameplay, with skaters sometimes pulling off physically impossible feats, combined with the occasional supernatural guest character. It seems as though the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will continue the tradition of bizarre guest characters, as yet another one has leaked online. Please note that this could potentially be considered SPOILERS for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 +2....

The strategy game Total War: Three Kingdoms is a complex exploration of warfare, politics, and tactics. There are a lot of moving parts to this game that requires the player to operate well on the turn-based macro level and lead decisively on the real-time micro level. As a result there are some aspects of the game that certain players will find annoying or frequently struggle with. This leads to the existence of mods that can dramatically influence these parts of the game to the point they might as well be cheats....

When RedLynx took to the stage by crashing a dirtbike in dramatic fashion at E3 2018, fans knew exactly what was coming: a new Trials game. The Ubisoft-owned studio went on to reveal Trials Rising, showing off a trailer and announcing that crashes would be a huge focus of the upcoming title. Game Rant recently had a chance to take Trials Rising for a ride, and we can confirm that statement: there are crashes galore, and they make it fun to lose....

It’s been four years since we last saw a proper new entry into the Trials series, with fans’ last dose of the dirt bike action coming from Trials Fusion. So, although it wasn’t announced prior to the conference, it’s no real surprise that Ubisoft Redlynx took to the stage at E3 to announce Trials Rising, the latest instalment in the series. The trailer was announced in a comedic fashion, with Redlynx’s founder driving towards the Ubisoft stage on a dirt bike dressed as Evel Knieval, only to “trip” and crash into the podium set out for him on stage....

The long-awaited PlayStation 5 reveal event is happening this week, based on a Twitch ad that is promoting a new date of June 11. Sony has slowly been drip-feeding information about the PlayStation 5 to fans, which has caused a lot of frustration, considering that we still haven’t seen the console. This is in stark contrast to Microsoft, which has already revealed the Xbox Series X and showed off footage of its games in action....

During the early 2000s, cartoony and colorful 3-D platformers were everywhere. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, however, stood out as a cult classic. The fanbases’ dedication facilitated an HD remaster of the first game, and now an HD version of the sequel is in development. Originally released in 2004, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue is often considered a high point of the series. Developer Krome Studios has so far acted on their motivation to remaster the entire Ty series, having released the first game in March 2020....

Ubisoft has explained that the future Assassin’s Creed Valhalla updates will be rolled out more slowly so the team can focus on quality. The developer of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has explained in a blog post on the official Ubisoft website (via PushSquare) what goes into the development of a game update and how the team is now planning to release a title update every five weeks instead of previously releasing one every four weeks....

Last week, Ubisoft dropped some sad news. The French publisher planned to shut down servers that were hosting certain features of several legacy games, preventing multiplayer game modes and also removing a player’s ability to download DLC. The games are mostly quite old, such as Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands, and Assassin’s Creed 2, so the shutdown is unlikely to hurt that many players. However, Ubisoft is also shutting down the servers for several multiplayer-only games, including Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Rainbow Six Lockdown, and Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2....

There was once a time when stylish, whimsical, and what some might call ‘artsy’ video games were relegated to the fringes, often overlooked in favor of their bombastic, blockbuster brethren. But the times are changing, with Child of Light a perfect example of just how much. Ubisoft gained plenty of attention with the game’s announcement trailer alone, but thanks to a new gameplay walkthrough with developer commentary, players can see for themselves how a fairy tale aesthetic looks to conceal one intriguing system for exploration and turn-based combat....
