The sudden introduction of paid modifications into the marketplace caused an influx of outrage and a torrent of complaints from gamers, who had plenty of valid concerns on why this was a bad idea for both the mod scene and consumers as a whole. Today, Valve and Bethesda announced the full cancellation of Steam’s paid mod workshop, apologizing for the inconvenience and refunding gamers who had made purchases during the system’s short lifespan....

Black Isles are the brains behind the classic isometric, top-down, turn-based RPG that is Fallout. Eventually, the employees would come to form Obsidian, while Bethesda turned the beloved cult hit into the 3D FPS giant we know and love. However, Bethesda never truly embraced the anti-capitalist overtones of the franchise in the same way that Obsidian did with New Vegas and its spiritual successor, The Outer Worlds. New Vegas’ embracing of its heavily pro-socialist message was clear, with its factions standing tall as a clear sign of capitalism at its peak resulting in society at staggering incompetence....

Original estimates were apparently too low, as WarnerMedia chairman and HBO Max boss Bob Greenblatt is saying the price cut on the Snyder Cut is well over $30 million. When the now legendary Snyder Cut became official for HBO Max, reports indicated that it would cost somewhere between $20-$30 million in additional editing and visual effects. Unfortunately, that estimate, according to Greenblatt, is quite a bit off. Speaking to Peter Kafka on the Recode Media Podcast (via Screenrant), Greenblatt explained that there is still a lot of work to be done on the project and that he wished it was only going to cost $30 million....

Well, we finally know what happened to that trilogy of Rick Grimes movies that AMC announced back in 2019 and hoped to release in theaters starting in 2020? They aren’t happening, confirmed the zombie-obsessed cable network at this year’s The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic-Con. But it’s not all bad news. The reason the movies have been canned is because Andrew Lincoln is instead returning in his own six-episode miniseries, along with Danai Gurira, to wrap up Rick and Michonne’s story after their departures from the main show....

No other side character in The Witcher franchise has been given more spotlight than Triss Merigold. From being a mere friend to Yennefer, Triss rose through the story ranks and became a power player in all three Witcher games. At one point, she even tried to replace Yennefer. While it’s clear that the developers see potential in her, they took some liberties with Triss’ video game adaptation. Anyone who has read the book will note several key differences in Triss whether physical appearance or behavior....

Console players of The Witcher 3 will be unable to transfer their saves to the Game of the Year edition, explains CD Projekt RED community manager Marcin Momot. Earlier this month, CD Projekt RED officially announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition. After much speculation, the developer finally confirmed that its award-winning fantasy RPG would be getting a re-release, allowing gamers to play as Geralt of Rivia complete with all of the DLC bells and whistles....

The world has seen plenty of negativity lately, so here’s some more. The Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Scheck took it upon himself during this year of everything terrible to add an extra dash of misery in his own special way. Going through as many films from the past 10 years as he possibly could, Scheck painstakingly compiled a list of, in his opinion, the worst movies released since 2010.
