In its original 75-issue run from 1989-1996, the DC Comics series The Sandman weaved a massive story about the return and downfall of Morpheus the Dream Lord. Written by Neil Gaiman, with pencils by legends such as Charles Vess and Sam Keith, The Sandman often functioned like an anthology series, focusing on the various characters who interacted with Dream and his family, whether they be a house cat who remembers a world of rodent-sized humans or William Shakespeare himself....

All of the aforementioned films rename characters and incidents, but The Fabelmans is the only one about how its protagonist grew from an early age into an undeniable filmmaking wunderkind shrouded in an air of destiny; it is also the lone entry in the emerging subgenre to happily include famous anecdotes from the director’s halcyon youth that he’s recounted in countless interviews, such as a chance encounter with the legendary Hollywood director John Ford....

Turns out a guy who uses two swords constantly has to break new ones in quite often, we’re of course talking about Geralt from The Witcher games. Geralt has an eye for swords, whether steel or silver. There are a ton of different swords throughout the three games, all of which have vastly different appearances and gimmicks. Last week, we finally heard news about The Witcher’s second season after over a year of near radio silence. Respawn Entertainment co-founder and CEO, Vince Zampella, announces over Twitter that Titanfall 2 will have a day one patch, though the update itself may not be as big as many expect. Ben Wheatley’s version of Lara Croft is no more, as MGM announced today that Misha Green will take over the next Tomb Raider movie. Green will assume the role of writer and director on the project, with Alicia Vikander still attached to star as the titular raider of tombs. The project has been in a bit of bind as of late, as Wheatley’s production was indefinitely delayed due to the pandemic....

Activision’s remaster of the first two Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games is approaching its September 4 release, and fans of the extreme sports titles were given a taste of what is to come through the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remaster warehouse demo. For those who can’t get enough of the classic skateboarding series, a documentary about its development called Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story is now available through video on demand and streaming in North America, Australia, and New Zealand....

A fan has made an MCU supercut featuring some of the film franchise’s favorite characters, causing fans to relive some of the most emotional moments in the franchise to date. The YouTube video, simply titled, “It’s just a superhero movie,” features various scenes from several MCU movies, most notably the climactic “Infinity Saga”: Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The scenes are skilfully edited together to the song “In This Shirt” by The Irrepressibles, creating an immersive emotional experience....

About a month ago, the developer Night Dive Studios’ remaster of the first-person shooter Turok received a PEGI rating for the Xbox One, indicating its impending release on the system. Now, it looks like the first entry in the first-person shooter series and its sequel, Seeds of Evil, are both set to make their way onto Microsoft’s current generation console’s backward compatibility program soon thanks to yet another listing from the aforementioned ratings board....

The U.S. military base in Bagram, Afghanistan was reportedly the largest military base in the country. After nearly 20 years, all U.S. forces have officially withdrawn from this location. In light of this event, Stars and Stripes sat down with some of the soldiers and learned that Pokemon Go played a significant part in the soldiers’ experience in Bagram by providing them with a chance to socialize. Additionally, some of the soldiers’ Pokemon still remain in the gyms there and are viewable through the app....

Quickly conjuring excitement online, it seemed Ubisoft was teasing a brand new addition to the Rayman franchise on its Facebook page, posting several pieces of concept art featuring the iconic mascot. The images were accompanied by the teaser: “Something is coming in Montpellier’s studio …What could happen in your opinion? Clue: No, this is not a new game.” Naturally, many were excited about this upcoming Rayman project, however, speculation seemed to be getting out of hand, with fans not heeding Ubisoft’s advice and hyping themselves up for a brand new game in the series....

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End game director Neil Druckmann reveals how one of the game’s focus testers was asked to leave due to expressing sexist opinions. With Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End releasing to critical acclaim and unprecedented sales success for the franchise, game director Neil Druckmann is probably feeling pretty accomplished. However, despite the success of Uncharted 4, the game’s development wasn’t always smooth sailing, with Druckmann recalling sexist focus testers that were upset about some creative decisions Naughty Dog made with the game....

The South Park series has a rocky relationship with the world of tie-in video games. While Obsidian’s critically acclaimed South Park: The Stick of Truth managed to break the series’ streak of lackluster video games, there were plenty of Chef’s Love Shack’s and South Park Rally’s to stink up the series’ good name. And according to the sleuths at Happy Console Gamer, there was almost one more halfhearted South Park game to add to the pile, and it was apparently bound for the original Xbox....

It’s been a great few years for horror fans: from Jason Blum’s ever-expanding empire and the scaling up of James Wan’s Conjuring cinematic universe to the massive breakout successes of the likes of Get Out, A Quiet Place The Witch, Hereditary, the genre is in good health. That looks set to continue in 2019 and beyond, with a bevy of exciting horror projects on the horizon. Over the next year, we’re looking forward to a host of bold new visions, intriguing reboots and sequels to some genre favorites, as well as a number of new Stephen King adaptations (natch)....

The world of Valheim is littered with whimsical Runestones, often telling the story of the world’s inhabitants before your Viking stepped foot in the mystical land. One of those is Ulf, the first Runestone in the starting biome, the Meadows, and it tells the player the very basics of Valheim. Collect stone, wood, build a house, that sort of thing. Ulf is basically Mr. Tutorial, but there’s a bit more to him....

Black Forest biomes are large forest-areas covered in big and beautiful pine and fir trees. These biomes share lands with the Meadows. An easy way to know when you’re moving from one biome to the other is that the Black Forests are a darker shade of green on the map. Story-wise, this is the second biome players should be exploring. Here they’ll find much-needed resources like Copper and Tin, as well as The Elder (a tree-like creature who is considered the King-in-the-Wood and one of the boss fights you’ll have to face while playing Valheim....

The VR controllers built to pair with the Valve Index Headset are seeing widespread reports of a defect since their launch in June. According to Index Controller buyers, the two controllers’ joysticks are malfunctioning when the joystick is tilted and pressed like a button. Specifically, if the joystick is fully moved in a cardinal direction, it either requires significant pressure to recognize it’s been pressed or won’t recognize its been pressed whatsoever....

Valve provides a disappointing update to fans who had hoped the company was developing Left 4 Dead 3. In January, a YouTuber revealed concept art that seemed to be from Left 4 Dead 3, prompting Valve to deny that the game is in development. Speaking to IGN, Valve developers Chris Remo and Robin Walker explained why those Left 4 Dead images were created. Walker said that the team “used parts of a Left 4 Dead level as the first bit of level geometry to start building in Source 2,” which is the game engine that Valve announced in 2015....

The Chaos Wastes Update has brought a lot of fun changes to Vermintide 2 since it launched. This free content pack has added a Roguelike Dungeon crawling mode that lets players set out on their own long-running campaign across the infamous Chaos Wastes. Just like how Winds of Magic added a new game mode and enemy type, the Chaos Wastes brings not just a new mode, but also a bunch of interesting levels, weapon skins, and a new interesting currency in the form of Pilgrim’s Coins....
