The Last of Us 2 is full of ways for Ellie and Abby to die, and none of them are particularly pleasant. While this in and of itself is no different than The Last of Us, the way the death scenes play out is very much different. Fans will no doubt come across many of these during their time playing through either game, as neither one is particularly easy, but this trend can be somewhat difficult to notice without seeing one of the many death montages found on YouTube and other sites....

Largely, and perhaps, surprisingly, GTA does a pretty good job of depicting U.S. gang life (fewer congratulations should be given for the London games). Rockstar seem to have gone to great lengths to nail a decently-accurate world for players to cause chaos in. Whether that’s by modeling insurance so that your stuff doesn’t go to hell because of another player, using actual South LA gang members for gangsters’ voices, or creating a Los Santos so accurate that gamers who live in LA recognize many local landmarks....

Video game developer Respawn Entertainment discusses the possibility of including cross-play support for its forthcoming first-person shooter Titanfall 2. As is the case with the majority of video games at this point in time, Titanfall 2 in its current state for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One will only be playable with other fans on the same platform, meaning that cross-play is not presently supported and probably won’t be on its release date....

Yesterday, Nintendo gave us a preview of indie games heading to their platform in the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Some of those titles are a bit far off, but some of them you can play right now like When the Past was Around from developer Mojiken Studio and publisher Chorus Worldwide. This isn’t Mojiken Studio’s first release, and you may find their style familiar if you’ve played the developer’s other games like A Raven Monologue or She & The Light Bearer....

The game development monolith Ubisoft has been in the spotlight due to an extensive list of sexual misconduct accusations against employees, often in key positions. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot released a statement earlier this week saying there will be investigations into each case, and today that sentiment was followed up with a message about how Ubisoft’s culture will change to try and address this toxicity. In Guillemot’s internal memo titled “Change Starts Today,” which was republished for the public on Ubisoft’s website, the CEO comments that it is not acceptable for anyone to feel harassed or disrespected at work, and assures that those who have spoken up were heard and “are helping drive necessary change....

After numerous Ubisoft executives have been accused of misconduct, new information is coming out regarding some of the remaining top executives. Some of the executives accused have resigned from their position, while others like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Creative Director, have been fired. As top executives are resigning and being fired, allegations of Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s knowledge of the misconduct are coming to light. Publisher and developer Ubisoft officially announces another expansion across the globe by opening a brand new studio in Southeast Asia for the creation of future games. Ubisoft has decided to not let Vivendi’s attempt at a hostile takeover hinder its plans for progress. In fact, despite the current legal battle to defend itself against the French mass media multinational’s effort to control the company, the game publisher and developer has now revealed its plans to expand operations in Southeast Asia by opening a studio in the Philippines....

In the world of AAA publishing, Ubisoft has managed to pull off a development cycle that competitors can only dream of. While the ‘overlapping’ project structure (shifting satellite studios from support roles on larger games as they reach completion) has helped the Assassin’s Creed series pump out yearly installments, it is Ubisoft’s veteran Montreal studio that has led the overall design and direction. Until now. With Ubisoft Montreal currently hard at work on Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Rainbow Six: Siege (among others), the publisher confirmed today that Ubisoft Quebec - located less than three hours away in Quebec City - will be the lead developer on a future (not necessarily the next) entry in the core Assassin’s Creed franchise, officially sharing the task of ushering the series into a new generation of consoles....

Although 2020 was a rough year financially for a number of industries, gaming managed to ship some massively successful titles over the last 12 months. From The Last of Us 2’s dominant early sales to Animal Crossing: New Horizons managing to remain at the top of the charts for months on end, several studios delivered widely successful games in spite of the difficulties imposed by the pandemic. It seems the UK wound up making a lot of money off of video games throughout the year, with a new report from the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) revealing that video games earned the country a record-breaking £4....

In a time where many people are trapped indoors for extended periods and may find themselves with extra time on their hands, there are a ton of co-op video games available to play, and they’re more popular than ever. Unrailed is one such game, and its charming graphics and simple-yet-fun mechanics can keep players entertained as they try to build and maintain a train line with their friends. While many gamers are more familiar with realistic-looking, player-squishing trains like in Call of Duty: Warzone, the trains in Unrailed are colorful and blocky, and while they may catch on fire, they’re not creating any intense situations....

Valheim is taking the gaming world by storm and it’s not hard to see why. It continues to lead the sales charts on Steam and breaks its concurrent player records practically daily. It seems that gamers want to survive and thrive with their friends in Viking purgatory and we can’t blame them in the slightest. It can be one thing to know how to summon every boss in the game but entirely another thing to be able to take them down....

There could be little doubt that Valheim has taken the PC gaming world by storm recently. This Viking-themed open world survival sandbox seems to have come out of nowhere, but has made a name for itself, and its developer, by selling three million copies in just a matter of weeks. Unsurprisingly, Iron Gate Studios, the developer behind the game, has had quite the shock over how successful it’s become. In a recent interview, the studio’s co-founder, Henrik Törnqvist, has said that the community response and subsequent interest in Valheim has been a “humbling experience....

In May, Riot Games began detecting that some VALORANT players were cheating by using a program that hacked the game and exploited flaws in its code. Although the flaws have since been corrected, the game developer is still on the lookout for cheaters. Companies like Riot or Blizzard Entertainment are unfortunately not alone in their quest to stop cheating. Mohamed Al-Sharifi, known as GamerDoc, has led the charge in finding cheaters and reporting them....

For some players, the past week has been filled with joy as they’ve set up and played their new PS5 or Xbox Series X consoles. Both of these pieces of hardware have been receiving glowing reviews with several outlets championing the PS5’s DualSense controller. Now it seems that Walmart will have another opportunity for players to land their own console during their Black Friday sale. According to Walmart’s recently released Black Friday ad, the company will have more PS5 and Xbox Series X units in stock on November 25....
