A documentary based on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater failed to reach its crowdfunding goal this week, but the producers of the film say they still intend to move forward with the project. “Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Game Story” raised only $17,409 on Indiegogo on a goal of $75,000, but unlike Kickstarter, Indiegogo is not all-or-nothing, so the makers will at least receive some funding. The filmmakers, Ralph D’Amato and Ludvig Gur, put out a lengthy statement via the documentary’s official Twitter after the crowdfunding period came to an end....

After a 2-week delay, this past weekend was supposed to be the official start of Trials of Osiris for Destiny 2 in Year 4. Unfortunately, a discovery by Bungie forced the developer to disable the mode shortly after it had launched. Here’s a brief summation of my Career mode experience in EA Sports UFC 4 over the past week: My fictional fighter, Cullogan Ogle, began his career with a kickboxing background. Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland has been cast as Nathan Drake in Sony’s upcoming Uncharted film, according to a report from Deadline. Holland will play a younger Drake than fans might expect, said to be inspired by the flashback sequences within 2016’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, best known as the director of the Night at the Museum franchise. Uncharted currently has no announced release date....

Utopia’s world ends not with a whimper or a bang then, but with a burger chain employee handing in his hat… This week’s instalment was a dark affair, no more violent than its predecessors, but much more tonally desolate. Up until now, Utopia’s present-day episodes have bounced along on a kind of bright, psychotic buoyancy. Terrible things have happened, but in close enough proximity to colour, action and humour that we’ve been too entertained to feel wretched about them....

Video games are a tough medium to translate into film, whether it’s RPGs that build themselves upon character customization and choice, or story-based games with silent protagonists. Even without that issue, making the leap to tell the same story but condensing it down from dozens of hours to just two will always leave it feeling somewhat empty, and that’s exactly the problem Valve will run into if they tell Gordon’s story again through such means....
