Crossovers in video games are becoming more commonplace as time passes. Fortnite has welcomed characters from other franchises to the island, Mario and Sonic compete in Olympic events together, and the Smash Bros. roster now includes a lot more than just Nintendo characters....

Electronic Arts isn’t officially a part of E3 2016, but the company is still having a Sunday press conference to highlight its upcoming games. Watch the stream live right here. Electronic Arts is one of a few companies taking a different approach to E3 this year. Rather than EA’s usual Monday afternoon slot at the official stage, EA is putting on its own show Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET. E3 has evolved a lot in recent years, mostly thanks to the advent and growth of Twitch and YouTube, so it’s not surprising to see some companies trying new tactics to connect with fans and the press in a different way....

There’s a bit of a kerfuffle going on at Twitch where streamers are getting DMCA takedown notices for… well, pretty much anything. Games with copyrighted music, voices, and even sound effects are getting taken down with no recourse for the streamer other than to complain on social media, which many of them are doing. Twitch’s answer has been to simply stream games without any in-game sound on, which is obviously a less-than-ideal solution....

Joining countless other films which have been forced to make the same decision, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is going to be skipping theaters, instead opting to go straight to viewers’ homes. Viewers will now have to wait until early 2021 to watch the film from home instead of going to theaters. Previously, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run was set to debut on Memorial Day weekend, but was pushed back to August 7th....

Calling! You hear it calling! The release date for The World Ends With You anime has been announced; Neku will be starting the Reaper’s Game in April. Gematsu learned that the anime will be premiering in Japan in just over four months’ time. According to Crunchyroll (I know, the irony), it will be simulcast on Funimation for western territories. The anime also just received its second trailer and a new visual featuring the foes that Neku and the gang will face....

No one knew back in 1995 that the series which started out as a pair of video games for the Gameboy would turn into a global phenomenon. Today, Pokémon is one of the most well-known franchises around the world and it comes in second only to the slightly more famous Mario franchise. That is probably because Mario came out many years before Pokémon did. Still, the craze behind catching these creatures and making them battle each other doesn’t seem to be coming to an end anytime soon, especially with the release of Pokémon Go which has, once again, put the Pokémon series under a spotlight....

The long-awaited Abra Community Day will finally be taking place in Pokemon GO. This follows a revamp of how the event would’ve take place due to the limits imposed by social distancing amid the spread of COVID-19, with a new date of Saturday, April 25. Unlike normal Community Days, the Abra event will feature extended hours from 11am to 5pm local time. This will also be the first chance players have to catch a Shiny Abra....

It’s time for some penguin-fueled mayhem, dood. Prinny are a race of penguin-like creatures beloved by Disgaea fans. They’re small, have tiny leg legs, and a humorously expressionless face (at least, until they’re in distress). They also end their sentences with the word “dood,” which is not technically a word, but don’t tell them that. While prinny started out as the mascot of the Disgaea franchise, much like moogles from Final Fantasy or slimes from Dragon Quest, they’ve since somehow become popular enough for their own spin-off series....

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands might technically be a spinoff of the legendary Borderlands franchise, but the game still lets you hunt down a nearly endless supply of loot for hours on end. Of course, just as it is in the mainline Borderlands games, not all the loot in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is created equal. Each time a player kills an enemy or opens a chest, they are greeted by an explosion of colors that indicates the quality (and relative power level) of an item....

From Batman to Sherlock Holmes, fans of video games have many opportunities to befriend or play as detectives in a virtual world. Some cases may seem small, others feel like the fate of the world rests on the player’s shoulders. The real question is: will fans be fighting crime in a cape or a deerstalker? With Elijah Wood as a creative director and plenty of live action sequences, Ubisoft and Spectrevision’s upcoming psychological thriller Transference was always going to draw similarities to a silver screen experience. The game is designed to be an immersive virtual reality title (though it can be played just a controller), with players jumping through the digitized brain data of a troubled family. Players will shift through the perspectives of different family members, piecing together a full picture amidst puzzle sequences and several bits of in-game live action videos....

Transformers: War for Cybertron: Earthrise is both a very clunky title and also the second installment of the Transformers: War for Cybertron animated show on streaming giant Netflix. Though it shares the same name, it is unfortunately not related to the very well-received Transformers: War for Cybertron video games that released some time back. Instead, Transformers: War for Cybertron: Earthrise is a CGI animated show made in collaboration with Netflix, Hasbro, and Rooster Teeth....

Both March and April’s Free Game with Prime selection will feature five games. It can likely be presumed that this will become the routine, but that may or may not change. March’s five free games include Superhot, Oxenfree, Mr. Shifty, Shadow Tactics, and Dungeons & Dragons: Tomb of Annihilation. April’s games will be Tales from the Borderlands, SteamWorld Dig 2, Kingsway, Tokyo 42, and Dubwars. For those who have been paying to Twitch’s Indie Amplifier contest over the past month, most of these games will be familiar....

Alinity has been one of the most-talked about topics when it comes to Twitch drama as of late after a clip of her throwing her cat went viral. The latest development of the Alinity cat situation has seen the Saskatoon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals determine that her pets are safe with her, but it seems that the controversial Twitch streamer’s troubles are far from over. After taking a little bit over a week off from streaming on Twitch, Alinity returned to the streaming platform today to broadcast herself playing video games like Apex Legends....

Net neutrality was established as a means to keep Internet Service Providers from direct traffic to specific websites, censoring content, or gatekeeping access of certain customers. This issue has been contentious at both the Federal and State level in the United States....
