She is one of the best video game protagonists of all time, regardless of gender. She is this tough force to be reckoned with that also manages to be compassionate and tender with those that she cares for. She has escaped countless villains, foiled dozens of dastardly plans, and saved millions of civilians from Trinity and other ruthless organizations....

Ukraine-based esports tournament organizer WePlay has become the latest company to join the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC). The ESIC will aid WePlay in identifying potential misconduct and upholding the integrity of the competitive esports scene. WePlay joins tournament organizers like ESL and DreamHack as members of the ESIC. In partnership with different tournament organizers, the ESIC works to point out potential match-fixing, cheating, or other suspicious activity. The Commission recently banned over 30 professional CS:GO coaches for the use of an in-game spectating exploit that gave coaches an unfair advantage....

Mishaps on Twitch during users’ livestreams has never been unheard of. While some of these have been accidents or simply unexpected incidents occurring by chance, streamers PayMoneyWubby and Alluux had a rather unique event occur on their own recent stream: the setting off of a smoke grenade. The Twitch stream had been going as normal for PayMoneyWubby, real name Dennis Richardson, and Alluux, real name Alex. However, the incident occurred when Richardson decided to surprise Alex with a smoke grenade as she held her hand out with her eyes shut....

Last week, the Belgian Gambling Commission confirmed that it is currently investigating Star Wars Battlefront 2’s loot boxes over possible gambling offenses. But Belgium is not the only country raising questions about this sort of business model. Now we’re finding out that video games actually have a medicinal use as well in the fight against cancer. A study out of University La Paz Hospital in Madrid, Spain found that kids playing video games needed less pain medication after their chemo treatment thanks to the curative powers of gaming....

From the long-awaited Perfect Dark follow-up to Striking Distance Studio’s new sci-fi horror IP The Callisto Protocol, The Game Awards brought with it some substantial new announcements for video game enthusiasts. Included in those new reveals was a fresh trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, offering a short but significant chunk of gameplay from the upcoming cooperative experience set in the iconic tabletop universe.
