With an enthusiastic mass following, a cultish level of devotion, and a growing line of Minecraft merchandise, this little indie-effort that could may one day be considered The Simpsons’ video gaming equal....

Gotham Knights, the forthcoming superhero title from WB Games Montreal, is the Bat Family’s big opportunity to step out from Batman’s shadow. With decades of their own dedicated comic book lore, Red Hood, Batgirl, Robin, and Nightwing deserve the opportunity to show off as heroes in their own right. But that presents WB Montreal with a dilemma in Gotham Knights. Is it better to fall back on Batman’s greatest foe to show how powerful the team is, or would a Joker appearance do more harm than good?...

I got into Pokemon Go pretty late - during the pandemic, in fact. Not the best of timing, I will admit, but I had a blast walking all around the countryside with absolutely no PokeStops to be found. Hasbro has teamed up with Robosen Robotics to create the most advanced Transformers robot the world has ever seen. The result of more than 11 years of R&D, the “Optimus Prime Auto-Converting Programmable Robot” was revealed at this year’s Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest and is currently available for pre-order. The 19-inch tall Autobot includes more than 5000 components, 60 microchips, and 27 servo motors, giving the real-life Transformer the ability to go from robot to vehicle using voice commands....

For the last couple of months, Ubisoft has been having to deal with the fallout surrounding allegations of harassment, sexual misconduct, and abuse against the company and a number of key employees, which has certainly cast a heavy shadow over its recent game announcements. So far, Ubisoft has been taking measures to address the issue. Several of the employees hit with the allegations have either left the company or been fired, such as PR director Stone Chin....

Ubisoft is opening two new studios to increase the company’s ability to develop triple-A titles for multiple platforms, the publisher announced earlier today. The creator of Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon stated that it would be creating two new European locations, one in France and one in Germany, with an intent to focus on triple-A “multiplatform development”. The locations of the new studios will be in Bordeaux, France and Berlin, Germany, and both companies will be hiring staff and opening within the coming months....

Ubisoft’s quarterly fiscal reporting has resulted in a mix of both positive and negative news leading into E3 2019. The company confirmed that Skull & Bones, the competitive multiplayer pirate game, has had its release date delayed outside of the fiscal year. In turn, Ubisoft confirmed plans to release four other AAA games by the end of the fiscal year, which ends March 2020. Three of those AAA games have yet to be announced....
