This weekend Blizzard announced a brand new map for Overwatch, Eichenwalde, which will also introduce two new skins for the German powerhouse Reinhardt. Blizzard revealed the new Eichenwalde map at the beginning of gamescom 2016 with a preview trailer. A few days into the conference, Blizzard held an Overwatch livestream that sorted out a few details from the map reveal, including an estimated release date. Additionally, it showed off the game’s latest animated short and previewed a new legendary skin for Reinhardt, themed after the new map....

Over the last few months, Ubisoft has been no stranger to controversy, with the major video game publisher dealing with sexual misconduct allegations alongside recent backlash surrounding the racist connotations of its Tom Clancy Elite Squad trailer. The company definitely hasn’t been in the good graces of many, especially with this list of polarizing events all occurring in a relatively short space of time. Ubisoft is evidently aware of the seriousness of its slate of recent controversies, with the company addressing the recent issues with a new message from the company’s CEO Yves Guillemot....

Last week, a bombshell report from French news publication Le Telegramme revealed that Ubisoft had achieved “minimal changes” in the year after allegations broke that the company fosters a toxic work environment. Sources from within Ubisoft’s various satellite offices said that “nothing has changed,” that executives accused of misconduct are still protected by management and HR, and that employees that report such misconduct are often sidelined. The expose brought fresh calls to boycott Ubisoft using the hashtag #HoldUbisoftAccountable, and Ubisoft CEO came under fire to resign amidst the renewed scandal....

We chat with Julian Gerighty, the associate creative director for The Division, about Ubisoft’s plans for the property and continued support following its debut. It won’t be long now until gamers are booting up Tom Clancy’s The Division and jumping into a chaotic, virus-ridden version of New York City. While the game seems promising for those wanting to team up with friends online and score some digital loot, the game’s success will ultimately come down to how well Ubisoft supports the title post-launch....

Ubisoft is likely going to be putting less emphasis on AAA game experiences going forward. In a recent earnings call, Ubisoft describes that these types of games will not be the main focus of its business model in the future. The AAA moniker may be somewhat informal, but it is a label that describes many of the major experiences available today. Games by well-known publishers like Activision or Nintendo tend to fall into this category....

The puzzle game Ultra Hat Dimension from Kitsune Games is now available on Xbox One. The game’s description advertises the player’s ability to punch the chapeau wearers, but a catch prevents the gameplay from resembling Grand Theft Auto. The 2D top-down may feature cute hats and a penchant for pretty, pastel colors and friendly puzzles, however, there’s a twist. The dungeon crawler gives players the opportunity to punch various characters for wearing the titular hats, but the punching cannot be done by the player alone....

Mobvoi teased the new TicWatch Pro 5 a few months ago and while it hasn’t said an awful lot about the smartwatch since, a new leak shows us what it will look like while also outing more details. Set to be the successor to the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, this new TicWatch Pro 5 looks just the business in a render shared by leaker and developer Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter....

Ubisoft announces that the upcoming virtual reality game Star Trek: Bridge Crew has been delayed on PC and PS4 across HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR. Out of all the virtual reality games on the horizon, one of the most exciting has got to be Star Trek: Bridge Crew from Ubisoft. The game is one of the few multiplayer VR experiences, with players taking on different roles aboard the Aegis starship, allowing fans to recreate their favorite moments from the TV show....

It’s finally here. E3 is upon us and naturally gamers everywhere are waiting anxiously for updates about their most anticipated upcoming games, as well as some new announcements.
