While DOOM Eternal, Animal Crossing, and Half-Life: Alyx continue to break records, this week will see some competition from a swarm of remakes, remasters, and ports of some truly beloved franchises. There’s no question that Australian filmmaker and all-around eccentric genius George Miller has had one of the most eclectic directorial journeys in cinema. He’s only directed 10 ¼ features, and out of those, only three are standalone films (the quarter-feature, by the way, is the “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” segment in 1983’s The Twilight Zone: The Movie, easily the best portion of the film). Four of his movies comprise perhaps the greatest post-apocalyptic action series of all time, while three more are…part of beloved and/or successful children’s franchises....

While video game movie adaptations have often ended in disaster or disappointment, gamers are excited for the upcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot. With the movie now in production, Warner Bros. has released the first details of the movie, along with the first photo of Alicia Vikander as Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft. The shot of Ex Machina’s Vikander can be seen below, with Vikander’s Croft looking worn out and dirty in a dusty far-off land....

Images of the long-awaited Uncharted movie have surfaced online, giving us our first look at Tom Holland as Nathan Drake. Holland plays a young Drake, as the film is planned as a prequel to the game series. And, after seeing the new images, there’s no doubt he was a perfect casting choice. Scalpers have been a major problem with the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. So much so, that there are some in the industry who are worried that scalping may threaten the long-term viability of the PS5. However, there is at least one major retailer that has taken matters into their own hands; Walmart reportedly stopped 20 million scalping bots in just 30 minutes on November 25. Disney +‘s WandaVision picks up several weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame. After Westview, New Jersey, and its residents “vanish,” the FBI and SWORD agencies begin an investigation. They surmise that the energy field encasing the town is the cause of this chaos. They would later find out that Wanda Maximoff created the Westview Anomaly; it became a prison for the town’s residents and Wanda herself. As with any intricate creation, there are several questions viewers may have about the Hex and how it functions....

It should go without saying, but this article contains spoilers for the most recent episode of WandaVision, Breaking the Fourth Wall, which aired today, February 19. It felt a little bit like WandaVision was mocking me this week. I’ve had a few theories about the show, some which have panned out, some which have been proven wrong, and others which have been put on hold. Though we’re sure that Batman: Arkham City got off to a smashing start this past Tuesday, that doesn’t mean the release wasn’t without its hiccups.
