Believe it or not, VR has been around in some shape or form since the 1950s. Obviously, technology was somewhat less sophisticated than it is now, but the essential concept was there. In fact, in many ways it was around even before then. 1800s VR? It may sound far-fetched, but the roots of VR can be traced all the way back to 1838. A gentleman named Sir Charles Wheatstone invented the first stereoscope, which required the viewer to peer through some retro spectacles fixed in place, and look at two close-by but separated pictures....

The newest generation of gaming consoles released in November of last year, but there are still countless players trying to get their hands on a console of their own. Whether it’s caused by supply shortages thanks to the ongoing global pandemic, scalpers buying up stock before earnest players get a chance, or something else, finding one of these consoles can be a real hassle. The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout: New Vegas spiritual successor, is a game full of explorable environments, capitalism, and all-too-catchy corporation jingles. Though The Outer Worlds released at the end of 2019, there has already been one DLC released to expand the game’s storyline. Peril on Gorgon released in September 2020, amassing mixed to positive reviews from critics. The Outer Worlds has nine different planets listed on the map—some of which are available to players throughout the main storyline, and others that unlock after the purchase of DLC, like the planet Olympus....

The Rolling Stones will roll out their previously unreleased 1989 concert film Steel Wheels Live – Atlantic City, New Jersey on multiple formats on Sept. 25. The next day, Record Store Day’s second drop date of the year, they will also release a double A-sided 10” picture disc exclusively to independent record stores all over the world. The picture disc will include the singles “Almost Hear You Sigh” which was recorded live at the Tokyo Dome, and “Rock and a Hard Place,” which was recorded live from Atlantic City....

The Walking Dead season 11 will introduce the biggest status quo shift in the show’s history, bringing the massive Commonwealth city-state from the comics to life. Already, trailers have teased parts of this post-apocalyptic city, including a dark subway with ominous messages scribbled on its walls, and there’s plenty more to be revealed if the show follows the comic book source material. The Commonwealth setting will also usher in quite a few new characters to the show, including military officer Mercer (Michael James Shaw), who commands the faction’s defense forces as well as protects the settlement’s leadership....

This week in Call of Duty is all about the newest mode Warzone, and it is a mixed bag of good and bad. To get the bad news out of the way, console players are reporting having to turn off their crossplay feature to avoid what can only be described as rampant cheating from PC players, and the negative experience that comes along with it. While this is anecdotal, some of the top streamers of Warzone have also complained about the prevalence of cheaters in too many games, something that Infinity Ward has clearly stated they are working to treat through harsh bans, but it does not seem to be as effective as players would like, and this is to be expected in a free-to-play game with zero cost to enter....
