It’s hard to keep a lid on secrets in the gaming industry, especially around E3 time. This year’s E3 was no different, with a lot of news and surprises leaking well before E3 week could officially begin. This was the case with the upcoming cel-shaded brawler from Platinum Games and Activision, Transformers: Devastation, which had a number of details leak before its planned E3 reveal. Even though some details about the game leaked, including screenshots, its general direction, and the gameplay style, for the most part, Transformers: Devastation has remained a mystery, even after its official announcement....

A Twitch streamer named LBr Gaming and a Twitch mod named @tomparkes1993 have spotted that Twitch has been testing subscriber-only livestreams on the hgg_cheering_test account, which is an official Twitch account that has a Verified badge. In a screenshot, which was sent to Twitch community source Streamer News, the hgg_cheering_test stream showed a banner that said the account is “streaming for subscribers.” The banner also explains that in subscriber-only streams, subscribers will be able to watch, chat, watch streams with no ads, and get special badges and emotes....

Valorant, Riot’s online multiplayer shooter, consistently tops Twitch’s most watch games. Despite being in closed beta, Valorant consistently features hundreds of thousands of viewers even in the middle of the night. Except many Twitch streamers are getting frustrated with the situation, accusing Valorant’s viewership of being “fake” and artificially inflated. Twitch streamer Summit1G went off during a live stream recently, saying Valorant’s category is the “absolute fakest section on Twitch right now....

Riders Republic has been delayed from February 25 to later this year, according to a statement from Ubisoft. The statement is brief, and it’s unclear as to what the extra development time will be used for. “Today we want to let you know that we have made the decision to move our release to later this year,” said Ubisoft in its statement. “This additional time will allow our passionate team to deliver the best fun fueled experience to our players....

According to an earnings call, there is going to be a new Star Wars game coming out sometime this year. Developer Zynga has revealed the launch timeframe for its upcoming mobile Star Wars game. Zynga is known for experiences geared towards social interaction, like Farmville and Words With Friends. Previously, the group announced that it started work on a mobile game set in the Star Wars universe. Since there is a new Lucasfilm Games brand, multiple developers have teased Star Wars games....

Video game developer Naughty Dog announces the Survival mode launches next week alongside a multiplayer update for its action-adventure game Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Not too long ago, Naughty Dog unveiled the existence of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’s co-op Survival mode with a new trailer, detailing players’ ability to soon be able to take on multiple enemy waves alongside their friends within the game. Now, the developer has officially announced that fans of the fourth installment in the action-adventure franchise will be able to download Survival alongside a multiplayer update sometime next week....

Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, provides a small update on the game’s follow-up Deltarune. Its second chapter is currently in the works following its first chapter releasing over two years ago. Undertale quickly became a cult classic indie game after being crowdfunded in significant excess. Toby Fox’s goal for the Kickstarter was initially $5,000, but resulting in donations by tenfold of $51,124 thanks to over 2,300 supporters. Though Undertale was in development for about 32 months, Deltarune’s development time has been somewhat longer, but seemingly because Fox aims to make it a bigger game than its predecessor....

UPDATE: As it turns out, the information Tony Key gave to IGN yesterday is not true. Ubisoft has issued a statement in regards to Michel Ancel’s involvement with Beyond Good & Evil 2, and it appears that he’s still working with Ubisoft Montpellier on bringing the much anticipated game to life, as well as other projects. Ubisoft’s statement: “What was reported by IGN is untrue. Michel is still leading creative development of several exciting projects being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier....

Ubisoft’s newest games in the Assassin’s Creed series (historical fiction video games) have been well received, but occasionally controversial. Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla are their newest titles – all made in similar styles to one another and placing less emphasis on the “assassin” part of Assassin’s Creed. Just a couple of days ago, the video game publisher SEGA teased a PC release for the 2010 science fiction action shooter from Platinum Games known as Vanquish, and now the companies have officially confirmed the title’s release through Steam. As it happens, fans won’t have to wait much longer for the game’s release, as it is slated to launch through Valve’s digital distribution service on May 25, 2017. Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs franchise is known for evolving after each iteration. Each release sees a major component of the game completely changed based on the shortcomings of its predecessors, such as moving away from the serious nature of Watch Dogs’ Aiden Pierce in favor of a more carefree protagonist with Marcus Holloway in the sequel. With Watch Dogs Legion, certain game mechanics have seemingly been targeted in response to concerns that the fun clashed with the tone of the game’s story....

In comparison to developers like Bethesda who’ve chosen to hold their E3 briefings before E3 actually starts, some developers stay true to the original E3 3-day schedule. While it’s good to have the game developers spread out over a span of several days, it can also lead to a bit of fatigue amongst gamers, who have already been dazzled by earlier presentations. Over the years, Sonic the Hedgehog has battled some very memorable foes.
