President Donald Trump has recently signed an executive order to ban TikTok in the United States, citing security concerns over the mega popular Chinese-developed social media app. The TikTok ban would go into effect on September 15 if the company is unable to find a US buyer, with the latest company throwing its hat in the ring being none other than Twitter. Yesterday, Ubisoft announced that its editorial VP Tommy Francois had left the french publisher amid the ongoing investigations into the company’s history of sexual misconduct. Following a string of allegations against him, Francois supposedly stepped down to avoid any further repercussions from his actions. That doesn’t appear to be the full story, however. A new report from Gamasutra suggests that Ubisoft actually fired Francois earlier this week. While sources close to this story didn’t reveal themselves (the game industry loves to punish whistleblowers), their words paint a very different picture than what Ubisoft would have you believe....
Indie developer Iron Gate Studio released Valheim almost two months ago, and players have been enjoying its malleable world. Valheim is inspired by Norse mythology, but that hasn’t stopped a dedicated modder from being inspired by a different high-fantasy world and bringing The Elder Scroll’s Tamriel to the game. With Valheim’s flexibility, players have made all sorts of interesting and unique creations. Players have made a version of Sauron’s Tower from Lord of the Rings, Thomas the Tank Engine, an in-game version of beer pong, and one Valheim player even created a US Navy warship in the game....
Valheim has surpassed one million sales less than a week after entering Early Access on Steam, according to the latest update from Iron Gate Studio. The game is currently the top-selling title on the entire platform and has more than 120,000 active players. To say Valheim has been a success would be an understatement. The weird graphical bug that turned guns into spiky demonic hedgehogs has returned to Call of Duty: Warzone. Oh, great, not this again. That bug from last month that was causing the most heartbreaking ends to Warzone games has returned. In a weird bit of clarification last week, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan told GamesIndustry.biz that the company will be creating games that take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 hardware. “We are thinking that it is time to give the PlayStation community something new, something different, that can really only be enjoyed on PS5,” were his exact words. I’m not if anyone thought the opposite would be true, but I suppose there is some precedent from the past of cross-generational titles....
