When it comes to comic books and comic book movies, don’t count a character as dead until you see a body go into the ground. Sometimes not even then—right Norman Osborn and Doc Ock? So perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that James Gunn, an iconoclastic filmmaker and longtime friend of Nathan Fillion, is up for letting one good turn deserve another. And the turn of plot in The Suicide Squad’s opening scene is very, very good....

A few years ago, Overkill Software announced The Walking Dead, a video game adaptation of the hit comic book series and TV show, for release in 2016. The game has since been delayed a number of times, with very little concrete information released over the years. Now Overkill has released a new trailer that reveals the game’s first playable character, and offers fans a new release window to look forward to....

Magic in The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is as prevalent as the monsters Geralt of Rivia slays for a living. In the game, he doesn’t even have to walk a hundred meters without encountering some magical anomaly or a sorceress whose a potential tryst (or Triss). However, this also creates a bit of a problem; how the game handles magic is a bit of a head-scratcher. The developers themselves view magic partly as a plot device or something convenient to the story....

We’re past the halfway point of 2020 (thank god) and it’s been an interesting year, to say the least. There are still some big releases yet to arrive, but some amazing titles have already come out that many will likely consider the best game of this year....

It’s safe to say that many fans were expecting Sony to offer another look at The Last of Us: Part 2 at this year’s E3, but the highly anticipated followup to the 2013 critical darling was nowhere to be seen. The game’s creative director, Neil Druckmann, has taken to Twitter to explain why The Last of Us: Part 2 was missing in action, and it all has to do with Naughty Dog’s next release, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy....

There is quite a bit going on this week in World of Warcraft. For starters, Blizzard’s extension of the experience and reputation buff until the Shadowlands pre-release patch means that players are still eagerly leveling up more and more alternate accounts to 120, and with them, their professions. The result is a seller’s market of crafting materials; players can make some fantastic money before the launch of the next expansion by spending their time gathering....

Finally, The Sims 4’s initially controversial expansion Eco Lifestyle is here, and Simmers can now judge for themselves if it’s worth the investment. The pack officially launched on June 5th for PC, Mac, and console in the franchise’s first simultaneous launch. Despite early opposition due to the theme, the pack is continuing to surprise and — dare we say it — delight players as they learn more about its content....

It’s one of the most commonly-held beliefs in the video game industry: movie tie-in games are nothing more than a cash-grab by major studios, and almost never anything but terrible. Not without plenty of evidence, of course, since the list of truly atrocious tie-in video games gets longer every year - 2013 being no exception. Turtle Beach has announced a new gaming headset called the Recon 500. For $79.95, it will be including the company’s all-new 60mm Eclipse Dual Drivers and AccuTube wood composite injected earcups. The two new technologies that the new headset brings will, according to Turtle Beach, “deliver unprecendented sound quality at every frequency.” It also brings in a bunch of other nifty features, including the noise-cancelling TruSpeak microphone with memory foam cushions and a glasses-friendly lightweight frame....

While the COVID-19 pandemic might have thrown a wrench in everyone’s plans, forcing people to stay at home more often than expected, as well as possibly delaying games like Elden Ring. To say this year was filled with gloom is a bit of an understatement, but that certainly doesn’t mean that there weren’t moments of hope to shed some light. With bars and restaurants shut down, folks seemed to flock to their consoles and handhelds, as well as viewing their favorite streamers on Twitch....

Ubisoft puts many resources into promoting its games (such as major E3 press conferences featuring Ubisoft games) and so to make sure that it is doing its job right, the publisher is offering to pay players for their thoughts. The company has now sent out invites to a survey and those chosen could be given a chance to earn some cash. Bloomberg released a report stating that, despite the inflation slowdown UK economists expected due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, consumer prices saw a surprise uptick of 0.6 percent in June. While food and energy inflation rates rose by 1.4 percent in the UK, the cost of clothing and games likewise caused an increase in inflation when compared to the same time last year. The cost of purchasing video games and consoles actually went up last month in the UK, likely due to the increased demand for digital entertainment caused by lockdowns....

Valheim is a survival game with a classic take on the genre. It is easy to miss what made this game so special to so many people, especially when it is hard to explain the things that make it different from its competition. Like many other games of the genre, Valheim demands a lot of exploration and grinding, but it is also met with an innovative use of its graphical resources to create a fairy-tale-like atmosphere....

Video games have grown to provide much more than a simple power fantasy. A game can now be an avenue to create art, a way to meet new people, and even a venue to hold a wedding. In a recent interview, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell shared his experiences with using gold farming in World of Warcraft to make real-life income. In World of Warcraft, as with many MMOs, gold farming is the practice of stockpiling in-game currency to later sell for real-world income....

The global video games industry revenue has been forecasted to shrink in 2021 for the first time in many years. According to a report by game and esports data firm Newzoo (via VentureBeat), the market is expected to hit $175.8 billion in 2021, a 1.1% drop as compared to 2020’s $177.8 billion. While 1.1% isn’t that big of a drop, it will be the first time that the revenue curve will dip since the data analytics firm started tracking, back in 2012....

With only a few hours to let the realization that the next-gen, at least for Sony, might be upon us sooner than we think, many are already speculating about just how soon that transition might be. With only an announcement trailer to go on, and a media and investor event scheduled for February 20th, there isn’t much, but signs seem to suggest Sony is gearing up for something big. The widely held belief, at least at this point, is that Sony is gearing up to unveil their next-gen console: the PS4…the Orbis…whatever you want to call it....

This Call of Duty: Warzone hacker was defeated by a humble shield user in this embarrassing video. Call of Duty: Warzone has a hacker problem. It’s not as bad as PUBG was back in the day, but there are still way too many examples of cheaters getting away with aimbots and other hacks on the Modern Warfare subreddit. This latest example comes from Reddit user yeetmedaddi and is at least pretty hilarious to watch....
