Sony’s Playstation 4 Open Series is starting next week, on June 1st. Games include Call of Duty, Mortal Kombat 11, and many more.

Players can sign up for the Open Series by using the Events tab on their consoles. There are cash prizes and other rewards at stake. The monetary prizes consist of $100 for players who win the open qualifiers every week, in all games except CoD: Modern Warfare. Placing among the top players in the Monthly Finals wins you a share of a $1000 (or more) prize pool. Other rewards offered are rare themes and avatars. For each game players complete a qualifier in, they will be rewarded with a theme. More elite themes and avatars can be earned through performance, such as by placing in the top 40% or getting to the Monthly Finals.

The PS4 Open Series will have seven titles this year: CoD: Modern Warfare, MK11, EA Sports FIFA 20, Warface, NBA 2K20, Soul Calibur VI, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. Competing in CoD, MK11, or FIFA 20 will potentially earn players a chance to star in one of PlayStation’s Broadcasts. Elite players may be given entry to invitational tournaments and the chance to compete on PlayStation’s stream in the Monthly Finals. Broadcasts will only be extended to players in North America and Europe.

This year’s Open Series has been created with player feedback in mind. The competition takes place entirely online, so not even the pandemic can interfere with your competitive dreams. All you need to be eligible to play is a PlayStation Plus subscription for the online element.

Sony couldn’t have picked a better time to host this tournament, as the coronavirus pandemic has seen many gamers stuck indoors with nothing but their consoles for company. Several countries and some states have started easing pandemic-related restrictions, but thousands of gamers are still under heavy restrictions. Competing in a global PlayStation Tournament is an excellent way to spend your time right now, especially if you’re missing that social element to your gaming. The tournament has some top-rated games to choose from, and with seven titles on the roster – there is something for everyone.
