Paramount is allegedly in talks with Chris Pine to helm their reboot of The Saint. The rebooted version will be helmed by Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher from a script written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who has previously written The LEGO Batman Movie.

The Saint tells the story of Simon Templar, who is also known as The Saint. Templar is a criminal in the same vein as Robin Hood who finds his thief-for-hire career take him on a globetrotting adventure. Paramount reportedly hopes that the potentially Pine led reboot will lead to a series of movies.

Originally a series of books and short stories written by Leslie Charteris, The Saint has previously been adapted for both big and small screens. Alongside several movies released between 1938 and 1954, The Saint has also been turned into a radio series starring Vincent Price.

Former James Bond Roger Moore also played Templar in a UK television adaptation back in the ‘60s, and, come 1997, Val Kilmer would star in a more contemporary movie adaptation of the source material. Directed by Phillip Noyce, Kilmer’s take on Templar would see him as a high tech thief and master of disguise.

At the time of writing, there is no official production start date for The Saint.
