Predator: Hunting Grounds’ character selection just got a bit stranger as The Samurai Predator class is now available to play as in the game. This DLC pack costs $4.99 and includes 16 armor tints, as well as early access to the new melee weapon, the Katana; it will be live for everyone else on July 17th.
Illfonic, the developer of the game, added some lore to the character too. This Predator was a “demon from the sky” and became a Japanese legend. The Samurai heard the echoes of its attacks and attempted to fight the “invisible demon.” They inevitably failed, and the most elite of warriors fell for centuries.
Jordan Matthewson from Illfonic explained on the PlayStation Blog that the game also had a free update earlier this month, which included Dutch’s Hammerhead QR5 and knife. They also added an increased level cap to Level 150, and once players hit this level, they’ll get the Elder Predator class.

The update that launched today (1.13) is around 2.5 GB, according to Games Guides, and it includes buffs and debuffs, plus bug fixes. The Shuffler has increased crawl speed, and the Sixth Sense has a higher perk cost. The D34-D has also been altered quite drastically. It now has reduced hip-fire spread, less bounce with its grenades, and increased airtime for the grenade.
Predator: Hunting Grounds’ first DLC pack made an impact with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness in the game as Dutch, who is ready to face the Predator 38 years after the film takes place.
It’s fun to see multiplayer games have quirky skins and weapons to keep them fresh. A samurai Predator has existed before but was briefly touched on by a fan-film called Batman: Dead End. Named Big Red, it made an appearance at the end of the film, but somehow, it was officially licensed as a toy by NECA. Hot Toys also created a rendition of a samurai Predator with a sixth-scale figure. It seems that Predators with samurai swords are cool to the fanbase!
Illfonic has gone deep with the properties it handles, it seems, as for Friday the 13th: The Game, there was a skin for Jason that was inspired by the NES game, pink and all. That horror multiplayer title was a success for the studio with over 2 million copies sold in 2017. The publisher Gun Media released a Switch version last year that came with all the DLC up to that point.
