There’s been another update regarding the Tomb Raider 2 fan remake - dubbed Tomb Raider: The Dagger of Xian - and it shows that the project is still humming along nicely, albeit quite slowly.
Said update comprises a fresh batch of screenshots Tweeted out by the project’s lead (and pictured below) a few days ago, which depicts the latest progress.
The aim is to recreate the entirety of the second Tomb Raider game (which was released way back in 1997) in HD using the Unreal Engine 4. It’s an ambitious project to say the least, seeing as Tomb Raider 2 is undoubtedly one of the longstanding series’ most massive games. It’s also one of the most loved, having been crowned the second overall best selling PlayStation title in the UK.
One particularly dedicated fan based in France who goes by the name of Nicobass is heading up this initiative. By his side is a modest crew of five members, plus a handful of QA testers, who are undertaking the endeavor purely out of their love for the original game. As far as we can tell, they’ve been at it since at least 2016.
