Ahead of the July 31 return of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, fans can get in on the action with the new The Umbrella Academy tabletop card game.

The Umbrella Academy started life as a comic book series created by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. Our first glimpse into the dysfunctional world was in 2006 when an internet preview entitled Mon Dieu! appeared on the Dark Horse Comic’s website. Two additional short stories appeared in mid-2007, … But The Past Ain’t With You and Sage & Sound. If the former title sounds familiar to you then you are probably a fan of Way’s Band, My Chemical Romance (Yes that… Way!), as it is taken from the lyrics from one of their songs. September 2007 saw the 6 issue run of The Apocalypse Suite that would cement The Umbrella Academy’s place in the hearts of comic books fans the world over. Since then two more series have been produced with various spin-offs and a series set for release in 2021.

After several setbacks and being kicked around Hollywood development hell, The Umbrella Academy finally saw the light of day in the form of a 10 episode Netflix show in 2019. Due to the enormous uptake it was immediately renewed and the second series is set to air July 31st, 2020. The Umbrella Academy follows the exploits of the dysfunctional family brought together by Sir Roger Hargreeves who adopted children with extraordinary ability and trained them to become superheroes in his Academy.

Studio 71 Games and Dark Horse Comics have come together to work on the hit Netflix and comic book series.
