The Uncharted movie - which has had the bumpiest start to a development process possible - apparently has a new release date. If all goes well, we’ll be having Nathan Drake grace our cinema screens in July 2021.

The original release date of November 2021 seems to be no more, then. Quite the ambitious move, especially seeing as shooting - which should already have been rumbling along nicely by now - got shut down on the very first day according to lead actor Tom Holland.

The reason for the shutdown being COVID-19, of course. And seeing as the rest of this year is pretty much a big fat question mark all over the world for the same reason, we have to wonder how realistic the new release date is. Perhaps it’s worth tempering your excitement a bit; this could just be Sony having a particularly optimistic moment which they might need to rethink over the coming months.

As you might already know, this Rethink is just the latest in a sea of Rethinks by Sony regarding the Uncharted movie adaptation. The film has been subject to rewrites and recasts, while its prospective director has been rethought seven times so far.

So, for now, Uncharted is due to hit big screens around the world in July 2021.
