House Targaryen will soon be able to place the greatest swordsmen in Westeros on the battlefields of A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game. The Unsullied Swordsmasters miniature pack is coming soon to the Asmodee Web Store and is available now for late pre-order priced at $34.99 USD.
A Song of Ice & Fire: Targaryen Unsullied Swordmasters miniature pack grants House Targaryen its first non-cavalry unit. The Unsullied Swordsmasters pack comes with 13 pre-assembled and highly detailed minis, a unit card, an officer attachment card, and one movement tray.
Canonically, the Unsullied Swordsmasters obtain their unmatched skill on the battlefield by undergoing the most rigorous training in Westeros - only one out of every three can withstand the regimen and survive to complete it. But those who do survive to join the ranks of the Unsullied Swordsmasters are indeed masters of the sword, and this mastery is fully adapted into their miniature counterparts.
According to The Greatest Swordsmen post on the CMON website, the Swordsmasters are an expensive unit, costing 9 points to bring them onto the battlefield. But with that cost comes a unit with Speed of 6, a 4+ Defense Save, a 4+ Morale, and the Unyielding special ability, which shields the unit from ever having any Condition tokens applied to it.
When on the attack and at full ranks, the Swordsmasters roll a total of 10 dice and hit their targets on a 2+. Additionally, the special Unsullied Prowess rule allows the unit to Precision attack - rolls of a 6 allow no Defense Save for the enemy. These traits all add up to the Swordsmasters being able to reliably deal 8-9 hits on average, and since they can never have the Weakened Condition, they don’t have to be concerned with rerolls.
The Swordsmasters unit can be further bolstered with the Unsullied Officer Unit Attachment. These Officers come with a 3-point cost, and the new Relentless Order they can use on units they command. Relentless will allow Targaryen players to forego activating another unit and instead choose to have the Swordsmasters attack again. This means enemy units facing off against the Swordsmasters could have 20 dice being rolled against them in a single game round.
