Season 2 of The Witcher on Netflix is on its way, and with it comes the return of some of our favorite characters from the Witcher books and games. From stoic and stone-faced Geralt of Rivia to the flamboyant bard Jaskier (aka Dandelion, for those who play the games), there’s no shortage of memorable figures populating this universe.

While most of the major players from the games’ stories were established in the first season, there are still many others who were absent. Here then are 10 characters from the first Witcher game who could yet make an appearance in season 2.

10 Lady Of The Lake

First on our list is the Lady of the Lake. This figure in the Witcher world plays a similar role to her part in the Arthurian myth as she guides Geralt on his heroic quest (although we doubt he’ll become the King of England anytime soon).

Significantly, the Lady of the Lake grants Geralt the silver sword Aerondight, a powerful blade that can be used to slay all manner of beasts. It would be interesting to see how this character would fit into the established world of the TV show.

9 Zoltan Chivay

Zoltan Chivay is one of Geralt’s closest friends, alongside Dandelion. While Dandelion got a part to play in the show in the form of Jaskier, Zoltan was conspicuously absent. While there were other dwarves on screen, he wasn’t even mentioned throughout the series.

Part of this is due to the fact that his part in the story comes later on, while Geralt is searching for Ciri with his company. Depending on the timeline of the second season, it’s entirely possible that this dwarven warrior could make an appearance.

8 Jacques De Aldersberg

Jacques de Aldersberg was a villain in the first Witcher game who carried great hatred for anything non-human. He led the Order of the White Rose, which he restructured into the Order of the Flaming Rose, a militant group dedicated to the Church of the Eternal Fire.

The first season of The Witcher didn’t really cover much regarding religion in this world. Introducing Jacques de Aldersberg, even as a minor character, could be a way to introduce an element of zealotry and religious commentary into the series.

7 Thaler

Real name Bernard Ducat, Thaler is a spy and agent working for King Foltest in the Witcher games. He’s encountered in the first title in the game series, where he is the head of Temerian intelligence and is given control of the city of Vizima during Foltest’s absence.

We did see Foltest briefly in the first season of The Witcher, although we didn’t see much of the inner workings of his court. Apart from a few advisors and the scandal involving his daughter, most of Temeria’s political machine was left to the imagination - leaving the door open for Thaler to make an appearance in the future.

6 Adda The White

Technically, Princess Adda was featured in season 1 of The Witcher. She spent most of her screen time as a cursed striga, however, and so we didn’t really get to know her that well. Even following her cure, she was still just a feral child, without much personality.

Season 2 has the opportunity to show us the results of Geralt’s actions. Adda the White (in the games at least) remains a monstrous figure, capable of easily inflicting great harm on her foes and is one of the more psychopathic characters in the story.

5 Adalbertus Kalkstein

Adalbertus Kalkstein was a major character in the first Witcher game. As a master alchemist, his services were invaluable to Geralt during his quest unraveling the mystery of the Salamandra. He also shared some rudimentary theories with the witcher regarding invisible particles, which players can easily recognize as molecules and atoms.

While witchers don’t typically care overmuch about the pursuit of science, Kalkstein would further deepen the world of the show. By featuring a character who is as learned and well-read as he is, we could gain further insight into how this world operates.

4 Lambert

Anyone who’s played The Witcher 3 will know Lambert as the recipient of a particularly colorful limerick. Jokes aside, this fellow School of the Wolf witcher is a capable fighter and one of the first people Geralt encounters after losing his memory in The Witcher.

While Geralt and other witchers in the games tend to take neutral stances on issues, Lambert is a bit more chaotic when it comes to morality. He has a fierce personality and isn’t above seeking vengeance or entering gray areas in order to get what he wants, making him an excellent counterpart to Geralt.

3 Radovid V

King Radovid V’s most significant role in the Witcher games comes in the third installment, where he commands the combined forces of the Northern Realms against the invading Nilfgaardians. Still, he did appear in the first title - although he wasn’t king yet at that time.

While we have seen various political entities in the show, we’ve yet to really dive deep into the relations between the northern kingdoms. Radovid’s introduction could serve to explore the difficult dynamics and strained alliances between the various nations.

2 Shani

Shani is a medic and a healer - and an excellent one, at that. She’s encountered in the first game attempting to enter Vizima in order to treat victims of the Catriona plague, and serves as a valuable ally throughout the game.

In a world full of depressing stories and bitter hatred, Shani represents a ray of light. Her insistence on treating all patients, regardless of race or history, marks her as a uniquely good person in the Witcher universe, a beacon amidst the sea of moral gray areas.

1 Vesemir

Finally, the last character from The Witcher that we could see in season 2 is Vesemir. This old witcher was Geralt’s mentor and trainer, educating him and others on the path to becoming a monster hunter. While he can be rigid at times, he does care about his charges and Geralt.

Vesemir was mentioned in the last few episodes of the first season, which makes it all the more likely that we’ll see him show up in season 2. It’s still a long way off, though, so for now we’ll just have to wait and see.
