The Witcher franchise has one of the largest and most dedicated fan bases in the history of the fantasy genre. And it’s easy to see why, because whether it’s the books, games, or Netflix series, the license is known for its high quality.
Over the years, The Witcher fans have shown their appreciation for the series by creating their own quality content. The type of content this list will focus on is comics.
We’ve attempted to find the funniest The Witcher comics the fan base has to offer. While they may have made this list because of their humor, many of them include amazing art too.
10 Priorities
This comic by Ayej perfectly depicts Geralt’s priorities in The Witcher 3 (when he’s controlled by Gwent lovers, that is). It’s hard to blame him since the card game is a joy to play.
Plus, Geralt has already killed countless Drowners throughout his many adventures, whereas he only discovered Gwent at the start of the game, so it is still fresh and exciting. Let’s just hope that the drowner doesn’t kill too many innocent people while the Witcher is showing off his card skills.
9 A Witcher’s Lies
Money isn’t always the most valuable thing Witchers can receive. Extra food, materials, or potion ingredients can sometimes be more important than crowns. It just so happens that one of the easiest ways to get those things is by looting people’s homes.
Fooling civilians by turning down their financial reward and then stealing everything they own is a classic Geralt move. This whole process has been wonderfully re-created by Mart Virkus in this comic.
8 Geralt In The Real World
If Witchers existed in real life, they’d constantly be in situations like the one depicted in EpicSteve’s comic. This is because arachnophobes wouldn’t hesitate to contact Geralt to get rid of small spiders in their houses.
It’s not like Geralt would be busy anyway as they aren’t a bunch of real-life monsters walking around for him to take down (besides certain humans). Nevertheless, his utter disappointment in the last panel is still very accurate and hilarious.
7 Christmas In The Witcher Universe
Artist Kate Niemczyk has imagined what a Christmas in The Witcher universe would be like, and it’s not great for Triss. The poor redheaded Sorceress gets thoroughly friend-zoned in this comic.
Her “friends forever” tankard isn’t as special as the gifts Yennefer and Ciri received. As everyone who played The Witcher 3 knows, Yen’s unicorn is a more romantic present than it may seem. At least, Geralt deserves credit for being very open about his feelings, but maybe there was a kinder way he could’ve done it.
6 Witchers’ Hatred For Shields
Witchers traditionally use their sword and signs for battles, and the games have shown that Geralt will occasionally use bombs and a crossbow at times too. A piece of equipment that Witchers don’t use is a shield. It’s clear why they don’t carry them, as they would be useless against many monster attacks. Plus, it would be harder to use signs and drink potions with a sword in one hand and a shield in the other.
However, if this funny comic by Swordscomic is anything to go by, then Witchers’ issues with shields go far beyond their inconvenience. No wonder people hate Witchers if they go around slaughtering everyone who mentions shields.
5 Geralt Hates Portals
Geralt stays neutral on many topics, not having strong feelings either way. Yet, when it comes to portals, he famously despises them.
The Witcher always prefers to take a horse, boat, or even walk to his destination rather than use a portal, despite it taking a lot longer. His hesitance makes sense as portals can be dangerous. Occasionally though, he’s forced to go through one, and Bucky Carbon has masterfully re-created those instances in this comic.
4 Gwent’s Medic
Team Wreckloose has created a comic that is painfully relevant for players of the Gwent standalone game. Medics in The Witcher 3’s Gwent allow the player to pick the person who should be revived. In the spin-off title, Nothern Realm medics choose which teammate needs to come back. This makes them very frustrating as they rarely bring back the card the player wants.
If that’s how competent the North’s medics are in real combat, then it’s no surprise they struggle so much against Nilfgaard.
3 Roach’s Secret
Polapaz-Isist may have outed Roach’s true intentions with this comic. The horse has always seemed like a loyal and useful ally to Geralt during his adventures. Yet, she can be unreliable due to the ease with which she gets stuck on rooftops, in trees, and on fences.
Most thought Roach’s mistakes were game glitches, but maybe Polapaz-Isist is right, and she is secretly working with the Wild Hunt. It certainly would be a hilarious twist.
2 Clever Monster
The monster in this comic by NerfNow is one of the smartest in The Witcher universe simply for trying to avoid a fight with Geralt.
Hopefully, for the monster’s sake, it knows how to play Gwent because if this takes place in The Witcher 3, then Geralt will almost certainly challenge it to a game as he does with every tavern owner. And if the monster refuses, that will be extremely suspicious as everyone else accepts. Although, it might not matter since Geralt would probably be smart enough to see through the ruse anyway.
1 Geralt’s Increased Mobility
Geralt’s mobility in the early games was very limited as he couldn’t jump, vault, or climb (except in specific situations). The third game, though, gave the Witcher the extra mobility needed to do more athletic things.
It was a welcome addition, and according to this comic by Cory Rydell and Grey Carter, Geralt was more excited about it than the love of his life Yennefer returning to him. It’s understandable as the return of Yennefer forced the Witcher into the difficult predicament of choosing between her and Triss, whereas his jumping ability didn’t cause any problems (except the odd mistimed leap).
