The complex but loving relationship between Geralt and Ciri is the ultimate proof that two people don’t have to be bound by blood to become a family. Ciri is one of the most important people in Geralt’s life, and the opposite is also true. They have been through a lot in their lives and even when they walk separate paths for a while, they always find their way to each other.

Since Geralt was the one who raised Ciri after she was orphaned, trained her, and taught her a majority of the things she knows, it’s no wonder Ciri also behaves like Geralt in more ways than one. In fact, there have been multiple instances when Ciri acted exactly like her adoptive father.

10 She’s Kind To Children

Ciri is willing and able to cut down her enemies, just like Geralt. However, at the same time, she shows immense kindness to children. When Ciri meets Gretka in the woods and learns Gretka’s parents sent the girl away, she decides to escort her to safety. Gretka then finds a new home in the Bloody Baron’s castle. Similar to Ciri, Geralt can help children multiple times in the game. He can save the Crookback Bog orphans or give some food or money to orphaned children he meets at one point.

9 Close Relationship To Vesemir

Even though Vesemir plays a different part in Geralt’s life than he does in Ciri’s, they both have a strong bond with the old Witcher. Geralt sees Vesemir as an adoptive father while Ciri views Vesemir as her uncle. She’s devastated by his death just like Geralt. So when Ciri gets the idea to kill Imlerith and avenge Vesemir, Geralt wholeheartedly agrees.

8 They Dislike Emhyr

Hate would be a more appropriate word at times, depending on the circumstances. Either way, both Ciri, and Geralt are dismissive toward Emhyr var Emreis, Nilfgaard’s emperor and Ciri’s biological father. Ciri can decide not to see him at all once Geralt finds her and brings her to Kaer Morhen.

Just like Geralt can disrespect Emhyr at every chance he gets, such as refusing to bow to him or report to him about what he learned of Ciri’s whereabouts. Ciri is also willing to pretend she’s dead if she becomes a witcher and Geralt will repeat this lie to Emhyr.

7 Ciri Causes A Plague, So Can Geralt

Because of Ciri’s journeys throughout time and space, she unknowingly dragged the plague later known as Catriona into her world. Geralt can — also unknowingly — make a similar mistake later on.

During the quest Towerful of Mice, if Geralt decides to take Annabelle’s bones out of the tower, she will turn into a plague maiden and leave to presumably sow decease and death.

6 She Likes To Fly Solo But Accepts Other People’s Help

Geralt and Yennefer have taught Ciri how to be independent. Despite that, Ciri’s not afraid to acknowledge she needs help. When she comes to Novigrad, she turns to Dandelion and asks him to help her figure out how to break a curse. Similar to Ciri, Geralt has teamed up with others to solve a problem he wasn’t able to deal with alone. In the books, for example, Geralt and his team (such as Regis or Milva) traveled to save Yennefer from Vilgerfortz’s grasp.

5 Lying To People Close To Her

Unfortunately, not every instance where Ciri behaves like Geralt is a good thing. Besides spreading a plague, she’s also guilty of lying to those she cares about. Ciri doesn’t deem it worthy to tell either Geralt or Yennefer she’s planning to fight the White Frost. Geralt has lied to people close to him as well, such as when he doesn’t tell Yennefer he was responsible for Keira Metz’s death if he kills her in Velen, to name just one example.

4 Ciri Dislikes Yennefer At First

Yennefer and Ciri are like a mother and a daughter — but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, when they first met, Ciri wasn’t that fond of Yennefer. She only warmed up to the sorceress over time.

It took Geralt less time to begin liking Yennefer but their first meeting was also far from ideal. Yennefer humiliated Geralt and then used magic to have him do her dirty work for her. Both Ciri’s and Geralt’s example proves that initial bad impressions don’t need to ruin a whole future relationship.

3 Ciri Is Poor

Despite being an emperor’s daughter, while Ciri’s running around and traveling between worlds, she’s always short on money. When she comes to Novigrad, she quickly runs out of the money the Bloody Baron gave her and has to rely on the help of her friends. Geralt is also penniless more often than not, especially in the books. Monsters are somewhat hard to come by, life is expensive and witcher contracts don’t pay that well.

2 Rescuing Her Friends

Geralt likes to act like he’s neutral and doesn’t interfere in the affairs of the kings and queens. However, when the time comes to save his friends, Geralt acts. He frees Dandelion from the witch hunters who captured him and also helps free the sorceress Margarita. Ciri acts in a similar way when she frees Dudu after Whoreson Junior captures him. It’s true that in both cases, Geralt and Ciri had something to gain by rescuing their friends, but they would have no doubt done it nonetheless.

1 Ciri Struggles At Relationships

Witchers aren’t the most emotional people in the world and they don’t usually excel at romantic relationships. It’s something Ciri seemed to have inherited from Geralt. She dates a girl named Mistle in the books but the relationship is pretty questionable since it starts with Mistle taking advantage of Ciri.

In the games, with a brief flirtation with Skjall, Ciri remains alone. Geralt also isn’t so good at romance. His relationship with Yennefer is on-again, off-again, his romance with Fringilla ends up in shambles and he can choose to cast Triss aside as well.
