The Land of a Thousand Fables is a fascinating illusion that players get a chance to enter during the Blood and Wine DLC. This realm is only present in The Witcher 3, and it is one of the most beautiful sites that the player will get to explore in the entire game. Unfortunately, the Land of a Thousand Fables will only become an explorable area if the player makes a specific choice during the Blood and Wine quest line.

The Land of a Thousand Fables has many unique attractions, such as new enemies, new bosses, and even some equipment to collect. There are many things that players can miss while exploring in this realm since it is so large and has so many exciting attractions that were created specifically for this illusion.

10 Most Items Disappear From Geralt’s Inventory After Leaving The Realm

After leaving the Land of a Thousand Fables, most of the items that Geralt is able to pick up in the realm completely disappear from his inventory.

However, there are some exceptions to this rule, including armor and weapons that Geralt has found throughout his journey in the realm. It is likely that the reason that items disappear is because the Land of a Thousand Fables technically isn’t real, and neither are the items that the player has obtained.

9 Four-Leaf Clovers

Four-leaf Clovers can be found throughout this realm as a replacement for the alchemy ingredients that usually litter the world of The Witcher 3. This was easily missed by a lot of players since they are not marked on the mini-map and do not have any significance in the quest.

Players are able to sell these clovers to the merchant in the Land of a Thousand Fables; however, they will disappear from the player’s inventory upon leaving.

8 The Unicorn Is Named Roach

This tidbit is hilarious, and it is a fact that Geralt calls the unicorn in the realm “Roach.” As most longtime The Witcher fans know, Geralt has named all of his horses Roach and this magical steed is no different.

This was an easy piece of dialogue to miss since Geralt only calls his steed by its name upon riding it, and if a player is engaged in dialogue with Syanna, then it can be overlooked completely.

7 The Message Board

The message board in the Land of a Thousand Fables is very similar to the boards that can be found throughout the open world of The Witcher 3 and it’s DLCs.

This message board will have a few funny messages from fictional characters and princesses, which usually require aid with a task, such as trying to find a person that fits a glass slipper. This is one of the funniest message boards in the entire game, and it is a shame that so many players easily missed it.

6 The Emperor Of Nilfgaard

The Emperor of Nilfgaard can be found wandering the paths in the Land of a Thousand Fables; however, he will be completely naked, except for his underwear.

A lot of players completely overlooked this character since he is not present in the main quest; however, it is an encounter that will give the player a laugh since it is so wacky and out of place. Luckily, it isn’t too difficult to find the Emperor of Nilfgaard since he has a set path.

5 Steel Swords Have No Effect

Steel swords have no effect at all on enemies in the Land of a Thousand Fables since it is an illusion, and the enemies are as well. If Geralt tries to use his steel sword to attack enemies, then he will immediately switch back to his silver sword.

This was a nice touch from CDPR, and most fans that realized this fact were excited that such a subtle detail was added to the Land of a Thousand Fables. Although this realm is anything but realistic, this feature adds a little bit more realism to the game.

4 Duck, Duck, Goosed!

Duck, Duck, Goosed! is the only side quest that players can find in the Land of a Thousand Fables, and it can be started by interacting with the previously mentioned message board.

The plot of this contract follows Geralt and Syanna saving a goose from a group of bandits, and the goose will be so overjoyed that she produces a golden egg for Geralt. Unfortunately, this is another item that will leave Geralt’s inventory upon finishing his task in the Land of a Thousand Fables.

3 The Tiny Village And Thumbelina

The Tiny Village is easy to miss since the player will have to stray from the regular path to find it. This village is not relevant to the main quest, and it does not contain any magical beans, which is why a lot of players overlooked it completely while exploring the realm.

While visiting this model sized village, Geralt is able to step on one of the villagers, Thumbelina, and he even tries to wipe her off his shoe, which is a funny moment.

2 The Land Isn’t Physically Real

Although a lot of players don’t acknowledge this while exploring the Land of a Thousand Fables, this realm technically isn’t physically real in any way.

Although it seems that Geralt is in a realm that is physically real since he fights enemies and picks up items, it seems to be equivalent to real-life virtual reality, in a few similar ways. The fact that players are able to fight enemies and pick up items in the first place creates a situation that is very confusing for a lot of players and may lead them to believe that the land is actually physical in some way; however, it is nothing more than a complicated illusion.

1 The Dead Knight

The dead knight can be found near the middle of the Land of a Thousand Fables, and he has a unique set of armor that will boost Geralt’s signs by 20% each.

When Geralt encounters the dead body of this knight, Syanna has some unique dialogue and mentions how knights would often venture into the Land of a Thousand Fables seeking a princess to marry. This is an interesting tidbit of knowledge about the realm, and it is somewhat shocking that humans would risk their lives in a dangerous land to look for a fairytale character.
