The second The Witcher 3 DLC is also the one that gives Geralt the happy ending he deserves - after all the troubles he’s been through. But before Geralt can get his happily-ever-after, he still has to deal with all the challenges that await him. Toussaint is full of vampires, and Geralt soon learns that this contract he took on might be more dangerous than almost anything he ever did.
Blood and Wine offers a lot of content, not just in the main storyline, but also thanks to the side quests and witcher contracts. With so many things to do, it’s easy to make mistakes, especially if the player is going through the DLC for the first time.
10 Not Killing Golyat With A Single Shot
Geralt simply can’t enjoy a pleasant ride to Toussaint. On his way there, he comes across a young knight fighting the giant Golyat. Geralt jumps in and a difficult fight follows since the giant is slow but incredibly strong. What many players don’t realize is that it’s possible to kill the giant with a single shot - and get a trophy for it! All Geralt needs to do is aim his crossbow in the middle of the giant’s head and aim correctly - which, unfortunately, is easier said than done.
9 Not Talking To Anna Henrietta About Dandelion
Anna Henrietta mentions Dandelion, her former lover, herself when Geralt first meets her. She asks whether Dandelion arrived at Toussaint with Geralt - the answer to that is no. However, Geralt can later find the time to ask the duchess about Dandelion and their first meeting which will provide extra information both about Dandelion and Anna Henrietta, as well as their relationship. The dialogue is easy to miss, though, and many players don’t get the idea to ask Anna Henrietta about Geralt’s best friend.
8 Not Having Fun At The Party
Geralt spends a lot of his time in Beauclair investigating the violent deaths - but he can also find time for some fun if he wants to. When he goes with Anna Henrietta to Orianna’s party, where he wants to find the man from Cintra, Geralt can participate in several fun activities that would be a shame to miss. He can throw the paintballs at the canvas, have a drink, light a lantern, and watch the mimes perform.
7 Buying Fancy Clothes For The Party
Speaking of Orianna’s party, Anna Henrietta asks Geralt to put on some appropriate clothing. And since Toussaint has a fashion different from Nilfgaard or Skellige, it means that Geralt has to spend his hard-earned money to buy a new doublet. However, there’s a way around this that will save Geralt some money.
If he shows up in inappropriate clothes, Anna Henrietta will reveal that she brought him a doublet for the party. This way, Geralt can skip on buying the clothes and just wait for the duchess to give the attire to him instead.
6 Killing The Vampires By Himself
After the vampires attack Beauclair, thanks to Dettlaff’s command, Geralt has two options - either go see Damien or visit Orianna. If he chooses to go see Damien and find Syanna, Regis will accompany him. They will come across murdering vampires on their journey but instead of fighting some of them, Geralt can save himself the hard work and let Regis take care of the vampires instead. All he has to do is hang out at an appropriate distance and wait for Regis to kill the lesser vampires (which he’ll do faster than Geralt).
5 Killing The Humans Himself
Another time when Geralt can just chill and let his vampire friends deal with the enemies happens when Geralt storms Dun Tynne in order to find Dettlaff’s lover and Anna Henrietta’s sister - who turns out to be just one person, Syanna. Regis and Dettlaff will show up and they can clear the path for Geralt much faster than it would take Geralt to kill all the humans in his way.
4 Not Doing The Additional Quest In The Land Of A Thousand Fables
This additional quest that’s only available in the Land of a Thousand Fables is easy to miss. It’s available on the notice board near the place where the little flint girl sells her stuff.
The quest will then lead Geralt and Syanna on a goose chase, and if Geralt succeeds, the lost goose will reward him by laying a golden egg for him. Not bad, as far as rewards go.
3 Not Decorating The House
Shortly after Geralt arrives at Toussaint and meets the duchess, he learns she gave him the deed to the Corvo Bianco vineyard. Geralt has never owned a house in his life and now he finally gets the opportunity to have one. If he’s willing, he can renovate the house and its surroundings, make it into a potentially prospering vineyard. It takes a lot of money but it’s best to finish the quest because if the player does all the renovation steps, they will get a trophy for it.
2 Not Searching For The Ring In The Garden
The game has a lot of small side quests that are easy to miss. And this is one of the most common ones since a majority of the players never do it. During his searching of the palace gardens, Geralt can come across a young noblewoman who lost her ring and is now crying. Geralt can offer to find the ring. If he brings it to the young woman, it won’t bring him any financial reward but still provide a special moment that’s easy to skip on.
1 Being Rude To Syanna
Syanna is not the most sympathetic character in Blood and Wine - even though she has a reason for her actions, she still makes mistakes along the way. If the player wants to save both Syanna and Anna Henrietta from dying, the most glaring mistake (that still some people do) is being rude to Syanna. if Geralt doesn’t listen to her story and then doesn’t choose the right options once they speak after their return from the Land of a Thousand Fables, Syanna will kill her sister and then die as well.
