This creature is also known as a beann’shie and it is a type of female spirit that players will encounter in the game. They are described as being quite pale and thin with bright red eyes that are noticeable with a single glance. It reminds those who lay eyes on them of a corpse and this spirit is often dressed in grey clothing.
9 This Creature Cries Out On Saovine Night
Saovine Night is an elven holiday that is celebrated in honor of the new year, but it is also when the Banshees come out to play. They are known to cry out on this night and anyone who hears their wails will die in the coming year. It is why it is recommended that patrons avoid graveyards to try and ensure they don’t hear this fateful sound on this night.
8 They Don’t Seek To Make Trouble
This spirit is not malicious by nature, but that doesn’t mean they are something that should be sought out. It is still considered a bad omen for whoever encounters it as this means that bad things lie ahead. They will not attack unless provoked and it is best to be prepared before attempting this feat.
7 They Are Stuck In Limbo Of Life And Death
Many have guessed as to where these creatures come from, but the best is that they are the spirits of women who are stuck between life and death. This is caused by traumatic experiences they went through during their lifetime as they now live on to cause others similar misery.
The type of trauma is unclear, but it must have been pretty brutal for them to succumb to this fate. It is unknown if they can ever free themselves from this life and make it to the other side, although, many doubt it is possible at all.
6 They Release A Scream That Will Stun Geralt
The one thing to remember when fighting this spirit is that their scream is something to watch out for. When they release it upon Geralt it will stun and disorient him, which will allow the spirit to come in for an attack. It is easier to evade this when a player knows what is to come as she winds up to release this burst of sound.
5 It Can Summon Skeletons To Come To Its Aid
A Banshee does not seek out fights as its goal is to serve as a warning of coming death, but it will still summon skeletons to come to its aid during a fight. They will only seek to restrain Geralt and a Banshee will not heal up during this time. Some might even consider them friendly as their goal is to stop an enemy, rather than injure them like others.
4 It’s A Type Of Specter
This creature is a type of Specter, but there are many differences to be had between a Banshee and their other counterparts. The first is that Yrden is not needed during the fight to bring them into their human form so they can be killed.
A Banshee also does not disappear for moments during the fight and summon wraiths to come to its aid. They might be in the same class of creature, but they are in no way the same type of spirit.
3 Specter Oil Is A Great Way To Defeat Them
It was already mentioned that this spirit is a Specter so it only makes sense that Specter Oil would be useful in this fight. The effects add 10% attack power against Specters and it is already a part of Geralt’s knowledge at the start of the game. Players can craft this item using one part Bear Fat and four parts Arenaria, but there is also an enhanced and superior version of this oil.
2 It Can Be Found In Toussaint
The Banshees reside in Toussaint within the game which is a part of the Empire of Nilfgaard. It looks serene on the surface as it focuses on the trade of fine wines, but underground is an entirely different story. This hidden underground system is home to a slew of other creatures as well, so it is best to come prepared before venturing into their depths.
1 They Drop Many Valuable Crafting Materials
Many players choose to seek out these creatures because of the items they drop for players. The list includes Essence of Wraith, Specter Dust, Infused Dust, and Lunar Shards. These items can be used to craft things like Reliever’s Decoction, Petri’s Philter, and Enhanced Feline Armor.
