The world of The Witcher 3 is a vast one, with much to explore, discover, and ultimately, forget about. There’s a ton to see and do, meaning that you might lose track of some important spots and be stuck trying to find them again. Luckily, the in-game map is pretty good as far as video game maps go, but with so many symbols, it’s still hard to make note of the important spots sometimes.
Novigrad is perhaps the most detailed area, with so much crammed into such a small portion of the overworld, so here are some places in the free city to keep a note of.
10 Hattori’s Shop
There are a handful of master crafters in and around The Witcher 3 world. If you’re looking to craft the best possible swords and weapons available to a witcher worth his salt, you’ll need to find a master blacksmith. Luckily, the helpful, if somewhat cowardly, Hattori is located right in Novigrad. After a short questline, he’s happy to help you craft those ultra-powerful weapons.
His house is marked by a regular blacksmith logo. But if you’re looking for it, it’s the one west of the Putrid Grove, east of the harbor, somewhat near the marker for the Gate of the Hierarch.
9 The Docks and Golden Sturgeon
Speaking of the harbor, it’s a good spot to make note of. This is in part due to the fact that Geralt can fast-travel from boats to any harbor in the world that he’s visited. This is an easy hack to fast-travel when a marker isn’t nearby.
Novigrad is home to one harbor that can be warped to, located right in the industrial docks. The resident tavern is the Golden Sturgeon, where a few different important characters can be found. This bar is also involved in several quests.
8 Hierarch Square
This small town square seems like the epicenter of Novigrad and all the city’s comings and goings. Right in the heart of the city, this gathering place has a ton going on, including many places for Geralt to visit, often frequently.
There are several merchants, including an herbalist and an armorer. White Gull, which is used in many alchemical recipes, is easy to obtain with a visit to Hierarch’s Square, due to a merchant here selling a lot of mandrake and cherry cordials. This square also has entrances to the Kingfisher Inn, Triss’ old house, and Vivaldi’s bank.
7 Cleaver’s Headquarters
There’s a very active criminal underbelly in Novigrad, and much of it is run by a few feuding gangs. One of these is Cleaver’s band of men, titled the Crownsplitters. His headquarters make for an important spot that Geralt will have to drop by a few times.
This building, which actually has a very nice glass facade, is paired with open space and a small courtyard. It can be found near Hierarch Square, just to the west.
6 Butcher’s Yard Theater
One of the more exciting places in Novigrad, and one that Geralt will spend quite a bit of time in, is the theater square where Dandelion and Priscilla put on their various plays and musicals.
Again near Hierarch Square (proving just how important Hierarch Square is), the theater is run by Irina Renarde. Geralt will actually participate in a performance during the quest “The Play’s the Thing.” Priscilla and other characters from the theater world will be involved in a few great sidequests, too. Find this spot just southeast of Hierarch Square.
5 The Bathhouse
Another deep-dive into Novigrad’s criminal underbelly might take you to Sigismund’s Bathhouse. This is one of the most important locations for the witcher to visit in the game, being home to several very important quests and the all-important character Sigismund Dijkstra himself.
The bathhouse itself can be found south of St. Gregory’s Bridge beneath a staircase. It’s just south of the bridge to Elector’s Square, near the marker for the aforementioned bridge.
4 The Passiflora
The Passiflora makes no attempt to hide what it is — a brothel. Considering itself the finest in the city, this venue has some wealthy and rather famous patrons. This brothel was also home to the initial meeting regarding the assassination of Radovid, which can affect the final outcome of the game, depending on the choices you make during the quest “A Deadly Plot.”
The Passiflora can be found in the north of Novigrad’s main section, just east of the bridge over to Elector’s Square. The brothel is right next to the marker for St. Gregory’s Bridge.
3 Vivaldi’s Bank
Throughout his adventures, Geralt will collect a small fortune in florens and orens, two types of currency that are not accepted by almost any vendor in the game. Luckily, the dwarf banker Vimme Vivaldi will exchange these foreign coins for crowns, which can then be used by the player to purchase goods and services.
This bank, like many other locations, is found in Hierarch Square. Vivaldi is usually outside to help with currency exchange services as well as offering Geralt small loans.
2 Triss’ Hideout
The sorceress Triss is in Novigrad during the events of The Witcher 3, but she really doesn’t want to be. Triss is planning to gather the other mages hiding from persecution in the city and escape it for good, with the help of Geralt.
As part of this questline and a few others, Geralt will need to talk to Triss and get her help (or offer her some). Her location through much of the Novigrad saga is in the Bits, where she’s hiding after fleeing her home. It’s a lopsided shack northeast of Hierarch Square, a couple of blocks east of the Kingfisher Inn.
1 Rosemary and Thyme/The Chameleon
Perhaps one of the most important locations in the city, if not the entire game, is the Rosemary and Thyme. This former brothel has been converted into a tavern and cabaret titled the Chameleon. This is done by Dandelion, a friend of Geralt’s, and the former owner, Whoreson Sr.
This tavern is home to a storage chest, plus it acts as the home of Dandelion and Zoltan Chivay, who are visited by the player rather often. Several quests are also associated with the Chameleon. The Chameleon is located just inside the city gates near the Gate of the Hierarch marker.
