The Witcher 3 is a fantastic game that allows players to craft the gear they want to adorn Geralt with. The Hearts of Stone expansion to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt introduces a new set of Witcher Gear to craft. The six diagrams will award Geralt two swords, a pair of trousers, gauntlets, and a chest piece boosting the armor rating of the titular Witcher to 235.
There are just three locations to find when collecting each diagram and each one can only be accessed through quests. The areas include a simple transaction between Witcher and merchant to navigating through an illusion-filled dream world before time runs out.
Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, And Trousers
Collecting the first set of Viper gear isn’t too difficult and only requires a few coins. The only way to find the first set of Viper gear instructions is by buying each diagram from a merchant in Novigrad during the Open Sesame quest. Approach Countess Mignole in the Borsodi Auction House in Oxenfurt and purchase the four diagrams after a brief interaction.
The attributes of each diagram range from a 40% resistance to damage from monsters to a 10% resistance to poisoning. In order to craft each piece of armor, The White Wolf will have to find linen, hardened leather, leather straps, wire, and cured draconid leather. Once these items have been found, it should be no trouble for any player of The Witcher 3 to craft these pieces.
Venomous Steel Sword
The diagram for the venomous steel sword can also only be accessed during the Open Sesame quest and can be found beneath the Borsodi Auction House. After locating Maximilian Borsodi’s House inside the vault, loot the chest next to the table containing the fifth diagram. These chests will be hard to miss.
Crafting the blade requires leather scraps, dark steel ingots, monster brains, and emerald dust. The sword comes equipped with a damage rating between 463- 565 and a massive 75% Critical hit damage bonus. Those stats alone make it worth the hassle of trying to acquire it.
Venomous Silver Sword
The second weapon is a little more tedious to collect. However, on the plus side, it is found already crafted. During the Whatsoever a Man Soweth quest, complete the optional objective of speaking to Shani at her home. Later on, elect to help Olgeird von Everec during his interaction with Gaunter O’Dimm.
Inside Master Mirror’s riddle, follow the main path heading right and across the bridge. Make a left at the tree and up the stairs ahead. Turn right up ahead, and that is where Geralt will be greeted by a Specter. After dealing with the Specter in a typical witcher fashion, climb the ruined stairs to remove the weapon wedged into the boulder. This silver sword will grant the player a 75% boost in critical damage and 20% more experience when defeating monsters.
