The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine delivers a narrative that is filled with intrigue and compelling characters. The tale is told over the course of sixteen main quests, and as is expected of The Witcher 3, most of them are excellent. Some include inventive gameplay, others boast clever storytelling, and a few simply contain thrilling combat.
That’s not to say that all of the quests are amazing, but even the worst ones are still passable, and they certainly don’t ruin the whole experience.
With all of the great quests included in the expansion, it begs the question, which is the best?
16 Envoys, Wineboys
This is the first quest of the expansion, and it’s pretty simple.
Geralt meets up with two knights who inform him of the troubles facing Toussaint. And The Witcher also has the option of helping them take out some bandits that are threatening the village where they’re meeting.
15 Wine Is Sacred
In this quest, Geralt is accompanied by the Duchess and the captain of the Ducal guard.
The three of them go to investigate a vineyard that could be connected to the killings in Beauclair. While there, they discover the vineyard is selling to an unauthorized third party. This leads to them setting up an ambush to extract information from the mysterious wine buyers.
14 Blood Run
Blood Run is triggered once Geralt comes face to face with The Beast Of Beauclair for the first time. It’s a short quest that sees the Witcher take on the monster.
Geralt has no way to actually win the fight as once he damages his opponent enough, they are interrupted by Regis. The intervening vampire then explains that the Beast’s true name is Dettlaff and claims that he is not as evil as he seems.
13 Where Children Toil, Toys Waste Away
The main purpose of this quest is to gain more information about Dettlaff and his motivations.
Geralt obtains this intel by investigating the vampire’s base of operations, which makes for a fascinating sequence. The only combat in the quest happens prior to this when Geralt saves a young bootblack from a group of men.
12 Burlap Is The New Stripe
At the start of Burlap Is The New Stripe, Geralt is in jail because he allowed Syanna to be killed. Eventually, though, Dandelion convinces the Duchess to release him.
Once he’s free, the Witcher has the opportunity to discover who Dettlaff’s last victim was going to be. If he does decide to find out, he gets to choose whether to reveal the information or keep it to himself.
11 Be It Ever So Humble…
In this epilogue, Geralt returns to his vineyard, where a close companion is waiting for him.
The person in question is either Yennefer, Triss, Ciri, or Dandelion, depending on Geralt’s decisions in the base game. Regardless of the individual, Geralt shares an enjoyable conversation with them in what is the last scene of the expansion.
10 The Night Of Long Fangs
A vengeful Dettlaff and several other vampires attack Beauclair at the beginning of this quest. To put an end to the ambush, Geralt has the option to find either the Unseen Elder or Syanna.
Each choice includes a different path and leads to separate quests. But regardless of what the Witcher decides, he still has to fight some of the invading creatures.
9 The Man From Cintra
Most of this quest takes place during a fun party that Geralt attends with the Duchess. Although, the most interesting part comes after the event when Geralt learns of the Duchess’ sister.
Plus, minutes later, Dettlaff visits. This creates an intriguing situation where the Duchess is unknowingly speaking to the Beast that she hired the Witcher to stop.
8 Capture The Castle
With the help of the Ducal Guard and two vampires, Geralt fights through many adversaries as he storms Dun Tynne castle in this action-heavy quest.
The Witcher is there to locate Dettlaff’s beloved and the individual who’s blackmailing the Vampire. However, it turns out they’re both the same person, Syanna.
7 What Lies Unseen
In What Lies Unseen, Geralt tries to convince The Unseen Elder to force Dettlaff to face him. His first attempt doesn’t go well as the Elder throws him away.
Geralt then has to find an offering that’ll persuade the vampire to speak with him while making his way through the monster-filled cave.
6 Pomp And Strange Circumstance
This conversation-heavy quest only occurs if Geralt kills Dettlaff. During it, the Witcher must do some detective work to find out who Syanna was going to trick the vampire into killing next.
Once he finds out that it was going to be the Duchess, he goes to speak with Syanna. This conversation and Geralt’s previous decisions can drastically change the fate of both sisters at the end of this quest.
5 Blood Simple
During the vampire invasion on Beauclair, if Geralt attempts to find The Unseen Elder, he needs assistance from Orianna. She takes him to the Orphanage she runs, which has been attacked.
The Witcher then investigates and starts to track the monster who assaulted the place. When he finds culprit - who is an Alpha Garkain like he thought - he kills the beast.
4 Tesham Mutna
This quest differs greatly depending on Geralt’s decisions. If the Witcher chooses not to fight Dettlaff, then it’s really short, and not much happens, but if he decides or is forced to face the Vampire, then the proceeding battle is exhilarating.
Unlike their first duel, this clash comes to a proper end as the Witcher bests the Beast.
3 La Cage Au Fou
Gathering ingredients for a decoction is the main objective during La Cage Au Fou. This is no simple fetch quest, though, it’s much more inventive than that.
Geralt has to either lift the curse of a Spotted Wight or battle it to get the first ingredient. And for the second, The Witcher sends Regis mad (with his permission), so he can extract the agitated Vampire blood they require.
2 Beyond Hill And Dale
If Geralt seeks out Syanna while the vampires are attacking the city, he enters a dark fairytale realm, which triggers this unique quest.
The objective is to get Syanna out of the magical land by acquiring thee beans ala Jack and the Beanstalk. Gathering them requires interacting with, and in some cases killing, several fairytale characters. Geralt then must defeat the giant at the top of the beanstalk to reach the exit.
1 The Beast Of Toussaint
During The Beast of Toussaint, Geralt takes on multiple powerful monsters, including a Golyat, a Bruxa, and a Shaelmaar, and each of those battles is exciting.
Although, the quest doesn’t just test the Witcher’s combat prowess as he needs to use his brain too. He conducts an investigation and later, competes in a scavenger hunt to find and stop Beauclair’s mass murderer.
