Some consider The Witcher 3  the best RPG of all time, as the game has dazzled players around the world since its launch in 2015. And now CD Projekt Red’s title has reached an impressive milestone in terms of sales, with The Witcher 3 surpassing 50 million copies sold.

CD Projekt Red has a lot on its hands as of late, as the developer is working hard towards the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077 and big news in June. But if the team can find a moment to breathe, it can celebrate the massive success that is The Witcher 3.

Not only has the game now sold incredibly well, but CD Projekt Red recently become the most valuable developer in Europe. This is very impressive considering the team doesn’t create many games, as the team hasn’t made a major game since 2015’s The Witcher 3. And in general, the only major games the team has made so far is The Witcher franchise, with the Gwent card game being a smaller and still successful title.

In many ways, CD Projekt Red is similar to Rockstar Games, the team behind GTA and Red Dead Redemption. The team takes years to create each game, but in the end, the titles are polished and create massive amounts of revenue for the developer, which is why the Rockstar Games founders are some of the wealthiest individuals in the UK.

One of the wonders of The Witcher 3 is the huge open world, which the developer recently explained. The game continues to open up time and time again, giving the players tons to do and explore, from lush plains to deep forestation to the isles of Skellige. There is so much to do in the game, beyond the incredible and well-told story.

The Witcher series, without Geralt, is set to continue at some point after Cyberpunk 2077. Although it will be difficult to see the iconic Witcher go, CD Projekt Red has proven that it has was it takes to create an amazing game, and perhaps one that will sell another 50 million or so copies.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
