Serving as the second and final expansion for The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine came with a myriad of new content that felt more like another game than a simple add-on. Set in the all new region of Toussaint, the expansion featured over 30 hours of gameplay, 30 new weapons, 20 new monsters and over 90 new quests.
The bulk of Blood and Wine’s new quests consist of secondary quests, though there were a considerable amount of contracts and treasure hunts added in as well. Every new quest gives players the opportunity to explore and discover Toussaint, but the main quest is where the Blood and Wine really shines.
16 Envoys, Wineboys
The first quest of the expansion, “Envoys, Wineboys” serves as the player’s introduction to the region of Toussaint. During the quest, Geraly meets Palmerin de Launfal and Milton de Peyrac-Peyran and aids them in saving some villagers from a group of bandits.
15 The Beast of Toussaint
“The Beast of Toussaint” sees Geralt investigate a disturbance at Corvo Bianco, coming along a Bruxa in the process and hinting at some deeper issue. The mission then sends the player to the arena, where Geralt must intervene as a Shaelmaar runs rampant. Afterwords, the player is introduced to Anna Henrietta and the two discuss the connection between the murder victims and attempt to deduce and save the next in line.
14 Blood Run
This mission takes place immediately after “The Beast of Toussaint” and has Geralt chase the beast following the murder of Milton. The chase eventually leads to a confrontation, where Geralt is saved by his old ally Regis, who reveals the beast’s identity.
13 La Cage au Fou
The fourth main quest in the expansion, “La Cage au Fou” brings players to all sorts of different locations throughout Toussaint. The player, as Geralt assists Regis in finding out the cause of Dettlaff’s animosity while also taking on a Spotted wight.
12 Where Children Toil, Toys Waste Away
“Where Children Toil, Toys Waste Away” is an information gathering quest that sees Geralt take on some unruly townsfolk while trying to find out more about Dettlaff. Geralt must extract information from a young bootblack, and eventually finds a suspicious letter that serves as a promising clue.
11 Wine is Sacred
Following the discovery of the suspicious letter, Anna tasks Geralt with investigating Castel Ravello after a sommelier pinpoints the type of wine found in the letter. Geralt investigates the estate’s barrels and brings his findings to Anna and the two decide to sneak into the party at Lady Orianna’s estate.
10 The Man from Cintra
Following Geralt’s investigation at Castel Ravello, he and Anna attend a gathering at Lady Orianna’s estate. While investigating, Geralt can take part in a number of different activities including; throwing paint balls at a canvas, interacting with mimes, sampling absinthe and lighting a lantern.
9 Capture the Castle
After the party, Captain Damien and his men aid Geralt in attacking Dun Tynne. During the attack, Geralt meets with Dettlaff and Regis and the two make their way through the enemy forces. After finding Syanna he discovers that she’s Rhena, Dettlaff’s missing lover.
8 The Night of Long Fangs
This quest takes place three days after the last one, following the revelation that Rhea and Syanna are the same person. Geralt can do one of two things following Detlaff’s attack; either go talk to Orianna or attempt to find Syanna himself.
7 Beyond Hill and Dale…
Continuing from the last mission, “Beyond Hill and Dale…” is a potential main quest mission that sees Geralt and Syanna make their way through a fantasy world. Geralt must find different colored beans while getting information from the Little Flint Girl.
6 Blood Simple
“Blood Simple” is another potential main quest, this time stemming from the decision to talk to Orianna. Geralt follows Orianna to the local orphanage, where he discovers that the beast attacked and killed almost all of the children. This then leads to a final showdown with Orianna.
5 What Lies Unseen
Yet another potential main quest dependant on earlier choices, “What Lies Unseen” sees Geralt – and possibly Regis depending on when the player starts the quest – seek out the Unseen Elder in regards to dealing with Dettlaff. After entering and subsequently escaping the cave of Hen Gàidh, Geralt is able to talk to the Elder Vampire.
4 Tesham Mutna
Dettlaff and Syanna’s storylines reach their climax as the former tries to kill the latter, should she be brought along. Geralt and Dettlaff then enter a battle to the death, with Dettlaff taking on three different forms during the confrontation.
3 Pomp and Strange Circumstance
Following Dettlaff’s death and Syanna’s capture, Anna prepares to bestow Toussaint’s highest honor upon Geralt. Regis ponders the identity of the planned fifth victim and Geralt talks to Syanna in her chamber. The dialogue choices in this sequence will have an effect on the outcome of the end of the quest.
2 Burlap is the New Stripe
“Burlap is the New Stripe” is another possible quest that activates should Geralt have not been able to save Syanna. Geralt is thrown in prison and either completes some mundane tasks, or once again investigate the fifth intended victim, though this time with slightly different results.
1 Be It Ever So Humble…
The final main quest of the Blood and Wine expansion, “Be It Ever So Humble…” is only made available if the player completes “Something Ends, Something Begins” from the main story beforehand. Geralt returns to his estate at Corvo Bianco following the events of the expansion and finds either Triss, Yennefer, Ciri or Dandelion waiting for him, depending on choices made throughout the game.
