Ciri isn’t a girl you want to mess with, and at the end of Witcher 3, she became one of the most powerful beings alive. Now that we have officially found out more gamers are on the way; it’s only natural to wonder about how Ciri would be if she starred at the protagnist for the next game. While Ciri would be an interesting choice, there are a few hang-ups we have about her taking on Geralt’s mantle. The question on most fans’ minds, though, is if they want the series to have a fresh start or hang on to its core cast of characters using Ciri. Below we have five reasons why Ciri will be the new protagnist and five it’ll be someone else.

10 Ciri is a Fan Favorite

Even with Ciri only appearing in the third game, she has quickly become a favorite characters for players. Ciri has a fantastic design and is a central part of both the games and the books. The world is tied to Ciri in mysterious ways, that not even she fully understands. Ciri returning as the next protagnist would certainly excite fans, and no one would complain about the choice.

Even the story is set up so that Ciri can have more adventures without the writers cornering themselves.

9 Refreshing The Cast

The original Witcher cast has been around since the release of the first book in 1993. We have grown attached to Yennefer, Geralt, and Ciri over the past few decades, and their character development has been nothing short of amazing. That being said, the end of the third game really left very little to be desired from the cast. All the loose ends were neatly tied up.

Moving on to a new cast will really let the writers stretch there legs and create an even more fantastic world.

8 Ciri Has an Intresting Fighting Style

Ciri has a very different fighting style with Geralt thanks to her ability to quickly move around the battered field. We don’t feel like the writers could easily make another character with the same powers as Ciri without bringing up some major questions about the operations of the world. Being able to hone her style of battle would be fun, and we are sure several interesting fighting styles could be learned by Ciri.

We could even see her start a whole new line of powerful Witchers.

7 Leavin the Known Region

While Ciri can go off and travel, it would be interesting to see a character who is born in another region of the world. We could start off young with a new Witcher and travel lands near our hometown. This would once again help to bring in an all-new cast that could be developed over the course of several games. It would also be great to see some region exclusive monsters.

New terrains like deserts could be easily added in that would unlock many different types of civilization.

6 Ciri Could Train Under Geralt

In a game that starts out after Witcher 3, we could see Geralt training Ciri a bit more at the beginning of the game. In the good ending, Geralt retires with your selected love interest and stops hunting monsters. It’s only natural if he passes all his knowledge onto Ciri, who would be one of the last monster slayers on the continent. This would ensure a safe future for those that Geralt loves.

Ciri also seems to want to follow in his path and turns her nose up at the thought of ruling.

5 The Geralt Saga Ended Solid

When Witcher 3 ended, every character, including Ciri, foraged their own path. We aren’t saying that Ciri won’t have amazing adventures, but do we really want to see an almost fully developed character, just slaying monsters. There won’t be a threat like the Wild Hunt hovering over Ciri, either. It just feels like there is a lot less of a story that can be made off of a follow-up with Ciri.

A prequel may be able to work a bit better, but it seems like she may not have had much action while warping around.

4 Ciri Could Crossover with CyberPunk

One of the coolest things about a game featuring Ciri would be the possibility to crossover with the upcoming game Cyberpunk. We already know that Ciri is not in the game, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t visit before or after the events of the game. It could be a great way to show off other parts of the new franchises and create a large connecting universe for CD Projekt Red.

It would also be interesting to see Ciri using some more high-tech technology.

3 It Wouldn’t Be as Fun

Ciri isn’t as interested in romance or intimate relationships as her adoptive parents. We can’t really see Ciri dating five different sorceresses at once or getting revenge on her lover. Ciri also seems more morally just then the other members of the cast, which could limit dialogue options for the game. This would cause the game series to lose a lot of its charm.

Ciri is a great character and a hero, but not everyone plays The Witcher just to see heroic actions.

2 Ciri Could Learn Magic

Playing as a powerful character like Ciri makes us wonder just how far the game could take her powers. With Yennefer as her adoptive mother and Triss as a close friend, it wouldn’t be hard for Ciri to learn more about magic. Sorceresses are shown to be incredibly powerful and able to use a variety of elements to fight with. There even seems to be charming abilities that could be used for mission integration.

We could also get a better look into the Lodge of Sorceresses after the chaos that unfolded from The Wild Hunt.

1 More Romance Options

Without Ciri, there would be much more room for romance options. A new character would allow a blank slate and could be more like Geralt in their endeavors. This could also implement the presence of gay relationships or allowing you to make a character of your very own like in other open-world titles and build your own life. As mentioned above, Ciri just doesn’t seem like the type to date around.

This would also allow for many interesting narratives in the new story.
