There are few in The Witcher universe that can be as devastatingly powerful as mages, especially when it comes to the Lodge of Sorceresses. A person being able to wield magic is rare enough but someone that can wield it well is even rarer, which makes the Lodge of Sorceresses all the more powerful.

The Lodge only allowed the best of the best to join and while each member of the lodge is strong in her own right, how do they compare against each other? Let’s take a look (and keep in mind that while Ciri is sometimes counted as a member of the Lodge, it’s more of an honorary title and she will not be counted on this list).

10 Keira Metz

To say that Keira Metz is the weakest member of the Lodge would be doing her a disservice. She’s plenty powerful, but she’s not quite at the level of the other sorceresses in the Lodge.

The reason is mainly because of her age. She’s one of the youngest members of the Lodge, which means she just doesn’t have the experience to hold her own against the sorceresses that are centuries old.

9 Sabrina Glevissig

Sabrina Glevissig may not be the most spectacularly powerful sorceress in the Lodge but on her home turf of the Northern Kingdoms, specifically Kaedwen, she’s one of the most powerful and influential mages.

Sabrina is often in competition with Yennefer because they’re both around the same age and came up together at the mage’s academy. They even hate being called former classmates.

8 Margarita Laux-Antille

Margarita is not only a powerful member of the Lodge of Sorceresses, but she was also a rector of Aretuza, meaning she was a sorceress who taught other mages how to use and control magic.

Unlike most other mages, Margarita had no interest in politics and only joined the Lodge because of the group’s focus on governing magic and her love for her school.

7 Fringilla Vigo

Like Keira, Fringilla Vigo is one of the younger members of the Lodge. That being said, despite her youth, Fringilla is already a very accomplished mage and outshines some of the more senior members of the Lodge.

Fringilla was strong enough to even temporarily blind Yennefer during the Battle of Sodden, and her illusions managed to trick Vilgefortz, one of the biggest antagonists from the books.

6 Triss Merigold

A major character in the books and the games, Triss Merigold is, along with Keira and Fringilla, one of the youngest members of the Lodge, but among the trio of youngsters, Triss is the most powerful.

In the books, Triss has her moments but she remains a relatively inexperienced mage. It’s in the games that Triss really shines and her strength is more on display.

5 Assire Var Anahid

Of all the sorceresses in the Lodge, Assire var Anahid is probably the most overlooked. She doesn’t get a lot of focus in either the books or the games, but it’s important to remember that Assire is one of the leaders of the Lodge alongside Síle and Philippa.

It’s also important to note that her magical prowess is so great that she is highly regarded in Nilfgaard, the kingdom that she serves. This is impressive in that mages have no political power in Nilfgaard so she really had to impress them.

4 Síle De Tansarville

The Lodge’s second-in-command, Síle de Tansarville was one of the most powerful and respected mages in the Witcher universe. Though she lacks actual fighting experience, her knowledge of magic is almost unmatched.

Despite her strength, Síle is more interested in her scholarly pursuits and even resigned her seat from the Council of Wizards because it interfered with her work.

3 Francesca Findabair

Francesca Findabair doesn’t actually appear in any of the games, she’s only mentioned briefly in The Witcher 3, but people who have also read the books know that Francesca is a force to be reckoned with.

Even though she was on Nilfgaard’s side, Francesca’s priority was the Lodge and their meetings. In addition to being a founding member of the Lodge, Francesca was also the queen of her own kingdom of elves.

2 Yennefer Of Vengerberg

Yennefer of Vengerberg might not have the most magical experience when compared to some of the other members of the Lodge but she certainly has the most battle experience of any of her fellow sorceresses.

Yennefer’s magical prowess is so great that she was able to become the youngest member of the Supreme Council of Sorcerers before the creation of the Lodge. Even though she didn’t initially join the Lodge, she later begrudgingly allies with them.

1 Philippa Eilhart

Finally, the strongest member of the Lodge of Sorceresses is the group’s main founder and leader, Philippa Eilhart. Even after having her eyes cut out, she still remained the most powerful among the Lodge.

Aside from Yennefer and Triss, Philippa probably gets the most screen presence of the other sorceresses and the powers and abilities she shows in those appearances are only a fraction of her full strength.
