The characters in The Witcher franchise continuously grow in power over the long timeline that spans over the books, show, and video games. By the most recent game, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, the main characters have hit their peak strength and really show it off. There are so many highly powerful beings in the game universe, it’s tough to know which ones are truly the strongest.
Combining their combat and magical abilities along with their intelligence, brute strength, and success in battle, there are 10 that definitely stand out above the rest. These characters in The Witcher are truly the strongest, here are their rankings.
10 Triss
Though on the younger side when it comes to being a powerful sorceress, Triss was able to learn quickly to become a very strong character. She knows a vast amount of magical spells that have helped many protagonists and have killed many enemies. Triss has made it through many battles, coming out of them alive due to her intelligence and strong magical abilities. She has been in crucial roles in politics for most of her life, leading her to gain great strategic knowledge.
9 Yennefer
The sorceress and main tritagonist Yennefer of Vengerberg is one of the strongest magic users seen in the series, being able to use a wide variety of spells to defeat her enemies and protect those she loves. Yennefer has been through many traumatic experiences which led her to be very wise, eager to grow stronger, and sometimes cold-hearted. All of her traits along with her intense magical abilities make Yennefer a nearly unbeatable character in the series since she will fight at no limits to ensure she gets what she wants.
8 Philippa
Philippa was the head sorceress in the Lodge after serving in the Redania court during and after King Vizimir’s rule. She is one of the only few sorceresses in the world with the ability to polymorph. She is very cunning and uses her impressive magic to achieve her goals of being in power.
She was hinted to have had something to do with Vizimirs death and is explicitly seen killing King Radovid at the end of The Witcher 3. She is murderous and eager to do anything to be at the top, making her someone no one wants to have on their bad side.
7 Letho of Gulet
Letho appears in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings as the killer of King Foltest. He is a witcher of the Viper School and is massively strong and bulky. He is the only other witcher in the entire series to be able to beat Geralt in a fight, making him really stand out of the crowd when it comes to power. He has killed multiple kings in the northern kingdoms and many soldiers who defended them. He was even able to turn against his former partner Iorveth and take out his entire group of elves. Letho can be spared by Geralt to fight alongside him in the next game as a very talented ally.
6 Eredin
The King of the Wild Hunt, Eredin had immaculate power that led him to be in the position he was in. His raw power, strategic abilities, and intellect made him able to conquer any feat he wished alongside his battalion. He is a main antagonist throughout the games and ends up causing some major damage to his enemies. Eredin is talented with magic, teleportation, ice conjuring, and fighting with weapons.
5 Vilgefortz
The main antagonist of the book series and later mentioned in the games, Vilgefortz is one of the most powerful magic users to exist in The Witcher franchise. He was a leader in the Chapter of Sorcerers and was incredibly power-hungry. He wanted Ciri’s blood to gain her Elder Blood powers, which would arguably make him unstoppable.
Vilgefortz was able to take down Geralt without even using his highly advanced magic and imprisoned and tortured Yennefer before the two were eventually able to defeat him, but only with the help of the vampire Regis and an enchanted amulet Geralt was gifted.
4 Geralt
Geralt of Rivia is proven to be the strongest witcher in the world, with his insane swordsmanship, magical abilities, wisdom, brute power, and more. He is known across the land through song and legend due to his many wins in battles against powerful leaders, monsters, and many other foes. Geralt has defeated nearly every magical creature in existence and has meddled in many political issues, being on the winning side every time. He is truly one of the strongest and greatest beings in the franchise by the third game of the series, even stronger than Ciri while she struggled to tame her power.
3 Ciri
Ciri was born with the Elder Blood, giving her an instant advantage when it comes to power and magic. She was taught how to swordfight from a young age, leading her to become a highly advanced swordsman by her young adulthood. Through magical training with Yennefer and Avallac’h, Ciri slowly came in control of her impressive abilities to teleport through space and time. Ciri is still young by the point of the timeline where the last game left off, leaving her plenty of years to strengthen her powers even more.
2 The Unseen Elder
Higher vampires are the most powerful creatures in The Witcher universe. Higher vampires can’t be killed, only defeated by those with incredible power. Geralt managed to defeat one, but only at the peak of his strength and abilities, and he was still hurt tremendously.
The Unseen Elder, met in The Witcher 3 DLC, is even higher in strength than a higher vampire. He is nearly as old as the modern timeline itself. He can teleport around his foes in an instant, has unbeatable strength, and could win a fight before it even began.
1 Gaunter O’Dimm
Though some may argue that Gaunter O’Dimm shouldn’t be included in ranking lists due to his supreme and otherworldly power, his role in the Witcher 3 DLC makes him enough of a present character to deserve to be included as the strongest character in the entire franchise. Gaunter O’Dimm (a play on the word God) can do basically anything he wants with seemingly unlimited power. He has been seen stopping time to instantly kill people and can materialize anything he wishes. He also has the power to grant people anything they want, including true immortality. It is theorized that he could be a god of some sort or even the devil himself.
