PlayStation owners are currently celebrating Sony’s decision to postpone closing down the PS3 and Vita stores. Resident Evil fans are also gorging themselves on the bevy of new information Capcom revealed about Resident Evil: Village, coming out on May 7th.

Whether one is a longtime fan or a newcomer lured in by Lady Dimitrescu’s sinisterly seductive height and fashion sense, the upcoming survival horror game is looking to be one of the year’s biggest releases.  However, there are still a couple of weeks left to wait until then, so in the meanwhile why not pass the time by gazing upon this week’s funniest memes?

10 It Took Little To Impress Us

It is difficult to believe now, but those who were around in 1999 recall the absolute frenzy  leading up to The Phantom Menace’s release. People also loved the movie for months upon release. Can you blame them? There had been such a drought in Star Wars content and new movies by George Lucas were a dream come true. It took a while for people to judge the film more objectively and realism it really was not great.

9 Why Do We Even Become Adults Anyway?

There are so many exciting new releases, even someone with no financial obligations or responsibilities cannot keep up with everything coming out. It is even harder for busy people with jobs and families to play just one game they are looking forward to in a year. Just when you think all other duties are done and it is time to game, something else comes up and interrupts free time.

8 The Exception That Proves The Rule?

Sadly, pain and hurting other people is usually a cycle. Generally, hurt people hurt other people. Taking your frustration out on others won’t solve any problems you have in your life. Unfortunately, this lesson is completely undone by Pokemon and most other RPGs. When you are low on health, you can often use an ability that drains health from an opponent to heal yourself. This is honestly the worst lesson gaming teaches kids.

7 Dad Jokes

To be completely fair to this meme, most people who were ten years old or so when the first Fast and Furious film came out are most likely parents, meaning they would absolutely revel in the dad joke above.

The upcoming Fast and Furious movie, the ninth mainline installment in the franchise, teases an actual spacefaring car. After this, we have no idea how the series could top itself; perhaps time travel.

6 Gamers Are Everywhere

It is easy to take fast internet for granted. It is still not a guarantee in most parts of the world. However, gamers are everywhere, and you don’t need high speeds to enjoy the best single-player games on the market. Besides, even those with fast Internet are not able to play the hottest newest releases. Take Outriders for example. Many are still having trouble connecting to the game several weeks after release, despite the ability to play the game solo.

5 Patience Is A Virtue

The thing about SSDs is the load times will only seem impressively fast for a short time. They will soon become the standard and our relative perception of time will make a two second boot up sequence feel like the load times on the original PlayStation. Instant loading won’t be good enough in the future; soon we’ll want the game to know what we want to play and select it before we even know.

4 Some Things We Lose Can Never Be Brought Back

The coronavirus pandemic completely shook up the world and changed the way we live. This generation may never truly return to what was once considered normal. With vaccines now circulating, however, people will start gathering once again and resuming some semblance of a regular routine. However, the pandemic took away one thing for which we can never forgive it; this sick Olympic logo for the postponed summer games in Tokyo.

3 I Sense Something, An Irony I Have Not Felt Since…

Electric energy is certainly a step in the right direction for a cleaner planet, but the above image kind of destroys the point of having an electric car, doesn’t it?

It feels like someone taking a private jet to a climate change conference and driving a hummer from the airport. There is an endless list of comparisons to be made about the irony of the situation, but the above meme is funny enough on its own.

2 The Friends We Never Saw Again

Remember how easy it was to make friends as a kid? Of course this is not the case for everyone, but usually in these play places other kids are welcoming and open to play with any of their peers. You have a great time playing some made up games, and then you leave with your respective parents and never see the other kid again. Despite the exchange lasting as little as five minutes, the memory lasts forever.

1 The Best Step Brothers

This step brothers situation is a little more unconventional than others. After all, Doom is significantly older than Halo and influenced all first-person shooters going forward. If anything, it seems like Doom should be the step-dad and not the step-brother. All the same, the imagery referencing the comedy classic is appreciated. Sony fans are certainly not enthusiastic about Microsoft and Bethesda’s partnership, however, since many classic franchises are now exclusive to PC and Xbox.
