Pop culture could come to a complete standstill for the rest of eternity and the Internet would still have enough material to make memes for a millennium. Fortunately, video games and other media will be with us for a long time to come, so fans will continue to meme up the world forever.

The ones we got for this week cover themes from the way video games affect out life to the our favorite consoles. Some are simply great jokes involving art from popular titles. While some of the situations reflected in memes might make you cry, the memes themselves will make you cry of laughter.

10 Can’t We Just Do Some Dishes Instead?

What’s more awkward than getting your card declined at a restaurant? Probably getting it declined at a space hotel. What does the staff do with you if you arrive and they find out you cannot actually pay. Hopefully you can just work it off instead of being jettisoned off into space like an imposter in Among Us. A space hotel is just ripe for a worker revolution, however, Red Faction style.

9 At Least She’s Still Alive

We’ve all been in a similar situation with cooperative play. You’re the more experienced player in a title like Call of Duty or Rainbow Six: Siege, but you end up biting the dust first and have to guide your less experienced significant other or friend to victory. The pressure mounts for your partner as they do their best to follow instructions. But if you were so good at the game, then why did you die first? Do you really have any right to guide them?

8 How Else Would We Know It’s A Desert?

You play enough video games or even watch enough movies and you start noticing certain things. For the most part, a desert level will have a certain feel to it. It does not mean the composer is lazy, it is just the musical language they learned to reflect a desert environment. Even when the game is a serious drama, you cannot help but chuckle when the music is so typical of what one would expect from the setting.

7 Maybe She Will Play Co-Op With Your Granddaughter?

This meme reflects the two types of people who would use time machines. There is definitely a third type of person however; one who would introduce themselves to their grandmother for the purpose of playing cooperative games.

There might be a learning curve for the former, but playing cooperative games with yourself might come with some problems of its own. You could end up hating yourself.

6 VPN Is Teleportation

VPNs are a magical thing. If you are in the US you can access Netflix libraries from other countries, and from other parts of the world you can watch things from streaming services such as HBO Max or Hulu. It is always a little worrisome when you see your computer in another county and think perhaps the authorities will catch on. Maybe the mere act of having a VPN will put you on the FBI’s watchlist.

5 That’s What The Nintendo Switch Is For

We are all familiar with this situation, and it does not necessarily have to be with a significant other. Sometimes the console is in the family living room and the parents are watching TV until late at night. Hopefully you are fortunate enough to have Nintendo Switch handy to play some Breath of the Wild or Pokemon before the living room becomes available.

4 And The Wii Has The Last Laugh

The Nintendo Wii was an incredibly popular console upon release, but the hype quickly died down after everyone who wanted one got it.

Most consider the PS3 and Xbox 360 better consoles regardless of sales, but the Nintendo Wii gets the last laugh, at least according to this meme. The successor to the GameCube is still receiving new game releases almost fifteen years after release.

3 An Interesting Choice

Which of the above would you go with? Both of them are pretty sweet deals, but what if they come with some unforeseen consequences? What if no one can ever know you played the game even after it comes out? Maybe for the second one, you never remember the games even after you beat them, making it impossible for you to talk about them with friends. Always gotta be careful when taking such deals.

2 Time Flies When You Are Having Fun

We’ve all played a game so good, we simply could not put it down even though we have responsibilities like school or work in the morning. Most of the time the one thought going through our minds while we are fighting sleep in the middle of a busy day is “totally worth it.” Will it be worth it when the fatigue negatively affects your job performance or grades, costing you that promotion or scholarship opportunity? Probably still worth it.

1 And Now We’re All Crying

A lot of naysayers still do not believe in gaming’s power to emotionally move its audience. Those people obviously never played The Last of Us. Naughty Dog’s legendary series is far from the first game to elicit such a reaction, too. We can name a bunch, from Final Fantasy 7 to Metal Gear Solid. It does not take a big budget to make people cry, either. A lot of indie titles also have the power to pull on our heartstrings, like Gone Home or Braid.
