For those who want to jump into the shoes of V before buying Cyberpunk 2077, you’re out of luck, as CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the game won’t be getting a public demo.
When asked by LettiiR6 on Twitter if there will be a playable demo of the game to try, CD Projekt Red explained that it would require too many resources and too much testing to release such a thing. While there is no precedent of demos being released by CD Projekt Red in the past, it is still disappointing that we can’t get our hands on the game before November 19th. However, this could be a blessing in disguise.
When the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo released, it was data-mined and spoilers came out because of it. Things like storyboards and costumes were found in the files (via GameSpot) that showcased spoilers of big game moments. Pokemon GO has been data mined multiple times too. Perhaps CD Projekt is preventing a data mine of their game before release by not launching a demo.
Over the past few months, more and more details have been dripped into our news feeds about Cyberpunk 2077. PS4 and Xbox One owners will be able to upgrade to the next-gen versions for free, and there will be a Batman Arkham-esque investigation mechanic called Braindance. A new anime based on Cyberpunk will be created by Studio Trigger and released in 2022 too. Despite there not being a demo for this game, we’ll likely see more gameplay over the coming months through their Direct-like presentations called Night City Wire.

Demos aren’t down for the count though. Xbox will be hosting a Summer Games Fest event that will give players access to over 60 demos. It will be running from July 21st to July 27th, so snatch those demos when you can. When July 28th rolls around, they will expire. Hopefully, PlayStation follows suit later this summer.
Cyberpunk 2077 seems like it will do just fine without a demo. In fact, Keanu Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand in the game, wanted to double his screen time in Cyberpunk 2077 because he was having a lot of fun with the role. Let’s hope CD Projekt Red can live up to the public’s sky-high expectations when it releases this November.
