Battletoads is the kind of game that really shines on Xbox’s GamePass Ultimate and this new trailer shows why you should be checking it out when it releases.

If you don’t know, the original Battletoads released back in the early days of at-home consoles in 1991. This relaunch isn’t a simple remaster of the original game, but seeks to expand upon it. In this new trailer/making of video, we get a better look at what the developers were trying to do and what we can expect when the game is available in just over a week’s time.

The developers talk about two of the three Battletoads and give us a quick look at how their combat abilities work. First, we have Pimple, the tank of the game. This hulking toad can dominate the brawl with massive attacks that might be a little slow on the uptake, but are absolutely devastating when your teammates give you the room to execute them.  That being said, the devs said that they want Pimple to feel more surgical and methodical than you expect.

Next up, we have Zitz.  Zitz is a quick hitter that can get in and out of the fight to create room and be a distraction to the enemy AI while your teammates work their toads. Of course, Zitz isn’t just a purely support character. He will have special abilities that will help you in your fight for the screen.

Battletoads is just a fun game that you can probably beat in just a few days, but that’s exactly the kind of thing that belongs on GamesPass. If you aren’t willing to drop the money to purchase this game alone, you won’t have to, thanks to Microsoft’s commitment to giving gamers as much value for their money as possible. That’s not to say that Battletoads doesn’t have some cool content, because it does. The developers tell us that there are 30 minutes of cartoons that we can look forward to as we battle our way across the world. We recommend you get GamesPass and check this game out. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
