In a world where we don’t have nearly enough special edition Nintendo Switch consoles, a Reddit user has given us another reminder of why it would be a whole lot cooler if we did. After taking one glance at this custom The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt-inspired Switch Lite, all that’s really left to do is wish it were the real thing.
“The Switcher Lite” was created by Swervito, a Redditor who posted their custom image on the site Saturday. With blood-stained buttons and a red silhouette of Geralt propped up against an icy gray backdrop, the Switch looks as professional as any other special edition console out there, and it’s no surprise that the concept blew up.
Nintendo’s special edition Switch consoles have mostly only had small details imprinted on the dock itself, as well as custom-colored joy cons. The company hadn’t made a completely redesigned console until the Animal Crossing edition, which has been hard to come by considering recent shortages amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
It would be awesome to see Nintendo take some inspiration from this fan-made The Witcher 3 Switch design, and begin designing special edition consoles with more directly-inspired color schemes and unique details. This isn’t the first time a fan has outdone a publisher in regards to design, and it probably won’t be the last time either.
