Pokémon GO Grandpa, real name Chen San-yuan, is back at it again, and this time with a whopping 64 smartphones.

You may have heard of Pokémon GO Grandpa before. Chen, who picked up Pokémon GO after hearing about it from his young grandson, has gone viral multiple times due to his love of the game. Chen plays the game by biking around Taiwan with a mounted smartphone setup attached to the handlebars, with extra phones that won’t fit on the setup contained in a small bag.

The last time we heard from Chen, he had 45 out of the 67 phones he played with attached to his bike. He has since then upgraded his setup. Quarantine hasn’t stopped this grandpa from pursuing his passions, as recent photos have shown him riding around the neighborhood with a whopping 64 phones mounted to his bike—and with room for a few more!

How you might ask, did a retired gentleman in his 70s get his hands on over 64 smartphones? Early 2019, Chen’s viral status reached the ears of ASUS, a Taiwanese tech company whose smartphone and tablet products you may have in your own home. ASUS hired him as a brand ambassador and even had him star at a media event to promote their Zenfone Max Pro M2.

ASUS made a point of replacing every phone attached to Chen’s trusty bike with a brand new Zenfone during the media event, and while any further public appearances are likely halted due to COVID-19, there’s a chance that ASUS is still funding their brand ambassador’s passion. Considering how many people still recognize and even seek out Pokémon GO Grandpa, it’s definitely a good advertisement move on ASUS’s part.

While his setup is definitely impressive, one has to wonder how Chen can see past them at all. His phones are mounted on the handlebars of his bike in a way that is reminiscent of a peacock’s tail. It’s a good thing Chen only plays to hatch and collect Pokémon, because there’s no way he could manage raiding or battling when the highest row of his setup is several feet above his head!
