Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players from all across the board are going to have to deal with some major balance challenges this upcoming week, due to some new patch notes that are leaving some happy, and some confused.

Some of these balance changes are very unique for Counter-Strike. The patch on April 10th focused mainly on weapons, decreasing the rate of fire and accuracy on the SG553, and slightly buffing other guns as well. The most interesting part of the update is the improved jumping accuracy and reset time of the Desert Eagle. Adored for it’s high power and ability to kill players with one bullet in the head, being able to jump and accurately shoot this weapon will most definitely change the pace of the game.

The balance updates also include the M4A1-S being reduced to $2900 in the buy menu. This will allow players to buy the rifle more frequently, and balance the price difference between terrorists and counter-terrorists. The SG553 has caused much grief in the CS:GO community, being one of the strongest and most reliable guns in the game. The new update has reduced its rate of fire and accuracy, in hopes to balance out the rifles more evenly.

The Desert Eagle update is the one that is currently getting the most attention. Back in the Counter-Strike: Source days, players had more accuracy while jumping and landing with the Desert Eagle. This update brought that aspect back to CS:GO. Being one of the strongest handguns in the game, economy rounds will be completely changed, as players will be able to be much more mobile and aggressive due to its accuracy buff. With the Home Sweet Home Cup 2 coming on April 14th, players have not had much time to adjust to these new changes, so the momentum of the tournament could potentially shift.

These changes are very big for CS:GO, and will most definitely change the way the game is played. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive had been well-off before the release of Valorant, averaging over 1 million concurrent players just a month before Riot’s new FPS shooter.

Counter-Strike having continuous balance updates even upon Valorant’s monumental rival release, shows that the development team for CS:GO still cares about the game, which is why it continues to be one of the biggest and most popular games still to this date.
