There is quite a bit happening this week in the world of CS:GO. In esports, ESP announced its Road to Rio groups with games in Europe, North America, and South America beginning on April 22. The CIS region will begin its games on April 30, and Asia and Oceana will be the final group to begin on May 6. The tournament series has a $255,000 prize pool to fight over, with the cash put up by Valve.

While the dough is a major reason to strive for victory, teams will also be competing for Regional Major Ranking (RMR) points, which is used for qualification to the CS:GO ESL One Rio Major this November.

This past week also saw a new update, which allows players to face off in a 1v1 warmup when playing Wingman mode on either Vertigo and Train.

Finally, Shroud made some interesting comments on Sunday, April 19 regarding the potential for VALORANT to perform even better against CS:GO than he initially expected. Previously, his comments (like many other professional CS:GO players) were that Riot Games’ new tactical shooter was fun, but less skill intensive.

Now, Should says that VALORANT will probably overshadow CS:GO due to its more simplistic gameplay and casual style. Only time will tell, but we hope both games continue to shine.
