Following the leak of source code for both Team Fortress 2 and CS:GO last week to the public domain, there was major concern that players might see malware in the present version of the game. Valve has repeated that they have reviewed the leaked code from 2017 and state that there is no reason to be alarmed or to avoid current builds, and that this code had already been leaked once in 2018. To date, no malware or other associated problems have been discovered.

April 26 was a great day for those who love to see the sweet banhammer used on cheaters, as hundreds of CS:GO players were banned on FACEIT following attempts to alter the game files to acquire a competitive advantage. Popular YouTube content creator Mefju23 has over 280,000 subscribers and made a video detailing how to change a file to hear footsteps more clearly in game. FACEIT acted swiftly, banning upwards of 400 players permanently from its platform, most residing in Poland where the platform is based.

In esports, the CSPPA and other tournament organizers are still discussing potential changes to off season dates, likely pushing the summer break to two weeks earlier and prolonging the winter break by a week, all of which should help better plan for scheduling issues pertaining to COVID-19.
