Although concerns over Covid-19 have caused virtually all events to be cancelled or pushed to online-only formats, there is still plenty of esports action to catch this week.
The Gears of War Texas Major, originally planned to take place in Arlington, US, has been replaced with the Spring Quarter Major and will take place completely online. While Europe, APAC, and South America have already seen some outstanding play this past weekend, Latin and North America are scheduled to compete from May 8-10 with a mix of Swiss Bracket and later Double Elimination.
The Call of Duty League also continues with its online season going forward, with week seven of competition taking place May 8-10. Matches have already been determined for the first day of play, but for the final two days schedules will be finalized based on team performance both for Groups A and B.
Meanwhile, Overwatch has completed its schedule preparations for next week, with all games taking place on May 9 and 10. Readers can click here for a complete schedule. Sticking with Blizzard, Hearthstone will continue with its Grandmasters 2020 Season, again with changes to its format to keep things interesting for viewers.
Unfortunately, Evo 2020 has finally conceded defeat in cancelling its upcoming event, though organizers are planning to announce an online competition with details coming soon.
