An uneventful last seven days on the island this week, as the only major announcement indicates there could be more uneventful weeks ahead.
The first season of Fortnite Chapter 2 was the longest in the game’s history. Delays kept the season going and Epic didn’t do much to fill the newly found time. This week, Epic revealed that this current season will also be delayed by (at least) a month. It now won’t come to an end until June 4, 2020, providing all goes to plan.
Epic promised in the statement revealing the news that it has plenty of stuff planned to keep players occupied this time around. However, this past week would suggest otherwise. The 12.40 patch landed earlier this week and honestly, it didn’t really bring much with it. Mostly bug fixes, but also the change of The Shark into a prison, and the direction in which an enemy fires now shows up on a player’s compass.
The past week might not be much to write home about, but there might well be a big event coming. The tease of a potential Doomsday event continues to rear its head, plus dataminers have discovered an LTM in Fortnite’s code called “Infected”. Perhaps the island’s doomsday could be caused by some sort of virus, and maybe zombies will be coming to Fortnite before the end of Season 2.
