Fortnite continues to become less of a game and more of an entertainment hub/social media hybrid as the changes keep on coming this week.
Fortnite loves a good crossover event, and one of its biggest to date took place during the build up to the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Its work with Star Wars has resurfaced this week in celebration of Star Wars Day. Players have been given a second chance to get some Star Wars-themed skins and best of all, lightsabers are back for a very limited time.
It’s hasn’t all been good news for Fortnite this week. Epic announced that the game’s second annual World Cup will not be taking place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Tournaments will continue to take place online, but since the World Cup required the finalists meeting in person, it can’t happen until this pandemic has blown over.
Epic continues to try and make Fortnite more than just a battle royale game. Party Royale mode is now in full swing, and a secret Deadpool minigame has also been added. It’s called Pfreely and although it won’t entertain players for hours, it’s a fun addition for those who have just endured a frustrating round of the regular game and need a break.
