This week, we’re off for adventure in multiple indie titles that have players braving the open sea, exploring the mysteries of a prestigious university, and venturing into the deepest levels of the subconscious. If you’ve been jonesing to go exploring, but unable to with the current global shelter-in-place orders, you’ll have plenty of adventures to choose from with this week’s indie releases.

Here are TheGamer’s picks for the indie games that you should check out this week (June 14 - June 20).

One Step From Eden (June 9 - PS4, PC, Switch)

Already released in March of this year, sole indie developer Thomas Moon Kang brings his action-adventure deck-building game to the PlayStation 4. As a spiritual successor to the Mega Man Battle Network series, One Step From Eden uses a Battle Network style of gameplay while creating a deep roguelike experience that all players - not just Mega Man Battle Network fans - should try out. Be warned, though. The game can be a bit of a grind, but it is worth it for those with the time and patience.

Summer In Mara (June 16 - PC, Switch, 2020 - XB1)

Summer In Mara - from indie developer and publisher Chibig - is a single-player adventure about a delightful young girl named Koa who is in search of adventure as she explores the mysterious world of Mara. Using her modest sailboat, Koa sails around the various islands of Mara as she meets whimsical characters and uncovers the secrets of her world.

Rune The First Wanderer (June 17 - PC)

Indie developer and publisher 2D Rom’s Rune The First Wanderer tells the story of a young girl who has lost her memory and wanders in search of answers. Waking (June 18 - XB1, PC)

Trapped inside a coma, players will be tasked with fighting their innermost demons in Waking, from sole indie developer, Jason Oda. Waking is a deeply personal journey, which can be seen in its featuring of real-world meditation as players take on monsters while venturing through the twisted Mindscape.
