As we head into the sweltering summer months the game release schedule starts to look a little thin. Most of the games that are considered the major blockbuster hits are typically released in the fall, which makes this season seem like a bit of a gaming wasteland. However, while it may seem like there’s nothing worth playing, the summer still has some gems and notable releases coming to a console or PC near you.

Here are the most exciting new releases that are worth checking out this week (June 28 - July 4):

Blaster Master Zero I & II (June 29 - PS4)

The Blaster Master Zero games have been out on Nintendo Switch and PC for a little while now, but if you’re someone who only owns or plays on a PS4 then the games are finally arriving on Sony’s current console. Both titles are incredibly fun action platformers that pay tribute to the classic NES game, and there’s even new DLC starring the strange plant lady Kanna.

Golf On Mars (June 29 - PC)

If you were a fan of the bizarre golfing game Desert Golfing then you might be interested in its sequel, Golf On Mars. It’s an extremely minimalistic game that has you doing just as the title implies, trying to guide a golf ball into a hole on the red planet. It’s already out on iOS and Android, but if you want to do your 2D golfing on PC it’ll be available on Steam very soon.

The Otterman Empire (July 2 - PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC)

No, this isn’t some kind of historical game based on the 13th Century state that controlled most of Asia, Africa, and Europe. Instead, this looks like a co-op third-person shooter where you can be an anthropomorphic otter armed with a jetpack or mech-suit. Suleiman the Magnificent would be proud.

Biped (July 2 - Switch)

Biped is an adorable co-op platformer that’s already out on PC and PS4 but didn’t seem to make much of a splash. Now that it’s releasing on the Switch, there’s a good chance that it could find a second life on Nintendo’s portable console.

Marvel’s Iron Man VR (July 3 - PS4)

This VR superhero experience has been delayed a few times, which is either a really good or really bad sign. Regardless, it’s finally time to become Tony Stark and fly across the sky blasting fools with your fancy flying armor. It could be a good excuse to dust off the old PSVR headset or it could be a total disaster. Hopefully, it’s at least better than Iron Man 2.
