This week is going to be quite hectic for Overwatch players as Echo, hero number 32, finally arrives to the game after nearly a month in the public test region. April 14 is the formal launch date for Echo, and games are sure to be far more dynamic thanks to the broad toolkit this character brings.
The big question will be how great of an impact Echo will have. The character already saw one nerf during the PTR, and in the hand of an expert this hero’s highly mobile playstyle is going to be a nightmare for support characters finding themselves repeatedly flanked.
In esports the Hero Bans for the upcoming Week 11 of the Overwatch League were drawn last night. This rounds it’s Widomaker, McCree, Reinhardt, and Brigitte who are barred from competitive play. Echo may be live as of tomorrow, but like any other new heroes will not be available at first.
Of all the bans, Reinhardt is probably going to have the biggest impact on competitive matches thanks to how much of a dominating force the character is as a tank, demonstrated on a weekly basis as a top pick by teams in all regions. In his place, players will probably use Orisa and Winston in their tank roles.
